Can't name timer

bspennington

For several months now, I've been unable to name a timer on a Nest Hub (Gen 1). Previously, I've been able to say "Set a 10 min timer called [name]." That no longer works. I've seen similar posts, but no common resolution.

Still works on my Nest Hub Max. "Set a timer called Turkey for 20 minutes". It even has the visual and sound effects.

Try rebooting through the Google Home app.

Your prompt is different than what I've been able to do in the past. Previously, I could say "Set a 20 minute timer called turkey" or "Set a 20 minute turkey timer". Doesn't work now.

Hi bspennington,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear about the situation that you are experiencing with your Nest Hub device while trying to set a timer with a specific name, as you used to. I understand how difficult it can be when things don't work as expected. But don't worry; help is here. I just need to ask for some information to provide the best solution.

  • Is your Nest Hub device up-to-date?
  • Is your Google Home app up-to-date?
  • What is the firmware version of your Nest Hub?
  • Can you please try to say the command for the timer by following the structure "Set a timer called [name] + time"?
  • Have you tried any troubleshooting steps to solve the situation?

@SmartHomeH-TAGS Thanks for your help in this situation.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenny
