Can't play podcasts

I am always amazed how Google is able to **bleep** up a perfectly working product. In this case Google podcasts. I all works perfectly fine, and when works perfectly you can expect Google to shut it down. In this case everything is moved to YouTube music. And even though Google announced this months ago, even the most basic functions necessary for playing podcasts are missing in YouTube Music. And now I even can't play podcasts on my nest devices anymore because my language is set to American English while living in Germany. Therefore Google in its wisdom have decided to already shutdown Google podcast (because that is the reality in the US) while at the same time not activating YouTube Music for playing podcasts (because that is the reality in Germany). **bleep**in screwups.

Hi johncrow,

I hear your frustration. It's definitely annoying when a familiar app you like gets shut down, especially when the transition to the new platform feels incomplete.

Here's a breakdown of the situation:

  • Google Podcasts Shutdown: You're right, Google is phasing out the dedicated Podcasts app and moving everything to YouTube Music.
  • Missing Podcast Features: It's true that YouTube Music currently lacks some core features podcast listeners expect, which can be a pain.
  • Nest Audio Issue: The language restriction on Nest devices for podcasts is definitely a bug Google needs to iron out.

There are a few things you can do:

  • Migrate to YouTube Music: If you're comfortable, you can try migrating your podcasts to YouTube Music and see if it grows on you. Google is likely working on adding features.
  • Explore Alternative Apps: There are many great podcast apps out there like Pocket Casts, Podcast Addict, or Overcast. These might offer a better dedicated podcast experience.

Hopefully, Google addresses the missing features and language limitations soon. In the meantime, you have options!

Regards,

Ivan
