Can’t select a music service on Nest Hub Max

For roughly the last month I have been unable to get the following voice command to work on my Nest Hub Max:

”Hey Google. Play (SONG) on (MUSIC SERVICE).”

I’ve tried different songs, artists, albums, genres. Nothing works. It either tells me about the proper way to ask for media or it says something like “I’m not sure. Here are some links I found on the web.”

It’s the “on (MUSIC SERVICE)” that throws it off. If I just ask for a song, artists, album, etc., it works.

I have both my Spotify and Apple Music accounts linked. I leave it on Spotify as default so that my kids can easily ask for whatever they want to listen to. I always specifically ask for my music on Apple Music so that it doesn’t stop anything my kids have put on somewhere else in the house. Or if my kids ask for something while I’m listening, my music doesn’t turn off.

This feature works correctly on the Nest speakers I have in the house. I can request Apple Music no problem. It’s only on the Hub Max that it doesn’t work. It used to work. Then about a month ago it stopped working. I’ve checked my Settings on the Hub Max and I see the Bluetooth menu so I suspect that I have the new Fuschia software.

I’ve also tried switching the default music to Apple Music. Then when I ask for something, it plays from Apple Music. But I can’t asked for something on Spotify. It doesn’t work anymore.

This is totally frustrating.

Hey jonmichaels,

We're sorry for the trouble this may have caused you — let's see what's going on.

A few questions: are you using the same Google, Spotify and Apple Music account on your Nest devices? Was it working before on your Google Nest Hub Max? Have you tried relinking your Spotify and Apple Music account from your Nest Hub Max? Also, give resetting your Nest Hub Max a try to see if that helps.

Let us know it goes.

Best,

Alex
