Can we set home to Away from a routine?

I've seen others post questions like this, but I've tried everything that they have tried to no success.

When I'm leaving my house and tell Google Assistant through my 2nd gen mini speaker that "I'm leaving", my mini always says goodbye, turns off the TV & lights, stops any music, cancels any alarm & timers, and then asks: "By the way, would you like to set your home to Away?" I have to physically stand there in my doorway for 25 seconds every single time to wait for this question to be asked! If I don't wait to answer "yes", the mini repeats this question a few times to an empty house and when I return home Presence sensing doesn't trigger. It's so annoying!

Does anyone know if there's an experimental action I can add into the Leaving home routine to set my current location to away? Or, is there anything else that works for you?

  • Routine commands
  • Presence sensing
  • Setting home to Away

Wow! I just figured it out! 😮

I added the custom action of "Everyone's leaving" to the middle of the Leaving Home routine (neither at the beginning nor end of the list of actions), and now I'm not asked that "setting home to Away" question anymore! Somebody put this in the Tips & Tricks section for the User's Manual.
