I recently bought a Firestick and Amazon Echo speakers and ended up sending them back because I was disappointed in Alexa.
What I liked was the ability to set up a "home theatre" where the TV audio played through the pair of Echo speakers. This ended up being a bit buggy because it often only played through one speaker.
So I sent it all back and bought a Chromecast 4k and two Nest Audio speakers after having read that it is possible to get the same setup.
I've since read conflicting articles about this and I was not able to set it up in such a way that the audio (from whatever the Chromecast device was playing) played through the Nest Audio speakers.
Is it actually possible?

Hi, yes it's possible! It is one of the reasons I went with Google too. I'm only new to this (2 weeks). I set it up last week by instruting the mini to turn on Bluetooth and connect to google tv. I then had to pair the speakers onto a group.
It then played video content via all speakers.
It messed up the system after though and I had to delete the speakers and reinstall them. I'm now unable to connect the video to the speakers but it will play audio / podcasts.
It's interesting that you went from echo to Google, as I was considering going the other way. I'm finding Google finicky and temperamental - the reason I came in here was to ask the same question as I can't the system to repeat the set up I achieved last week!
Hopefully someone more experience can be more helpful!

Thanks man. I think I'll be going back to the Amazon product. Really really disappointing

Hi folks,
Thanks for the help, @kiltguy2112.
@heyadamhey and @BGdub, thanks for posting. I totally understand that this is a good feature to use with your Nest speakers, but, this feature is not yet available. We appreciate people who are keen on sharing their thoughts with us. We're always looking for ways to improve. I'd suggest you submit feedback about it, here's how.
Let us know if you have other questions and concerns otherwise, we will be locking this thread after 24 hours.
Thanks,
Juni

Right now, no this will not work in what would be a satisfactory manner. Google said 2 years ago that this capability is coming.

Well that sucks. Two years and they still haven't delivered?? Wtf. Well, I'm sending it all back then. What a joke
