Cannot Connect or Factory Reset Google Nest - buttons & voice control do not work

Hi Everyone, hoping someone can help me.

I have a Google Nest Audio Speaker (purchased April 2022) that will suddenly not connect or factory reset.

  • It was previously connected and working, until one day it randomly wasn't a speaker option on my phone.
  • Unplugged it, waited a few days, plugged it back in (original cord)
  • Speaker turns on and the 4 LED lights blink for about 10-20 seconds, then the speaker turns off.
  • Does not make noise or respond to voice commands. LED's do not turn orange when responding to mute switch. Top touch-button does not respond.

 

I found another thread here where someone recommended plugging in the speaker, waiting to see the 4 LED's, unplugging for 10 seconds, and repeat 10x and on the last try it should say Welcome to Google (or whatever the opening prompt is) -- I've done this twice and it did nothing.

 

Anyone have a possible solution, or even an idea of what might be wrong?! TYIA!

Oh, sounds like your Google Nest Audio isn't working quite right. No worries, resetting it can often fix the problem! Here's how to do it:

  1. Turn off the microphone: On the back of your device, slide the microphone switch to the off position. The lights will turn orange.
  2. Hold the center button: Press and hold the center of the Nest Audio, near the top. After about five seconds, the device will begin the factory reset process.
  3. Confirm the reset: Continue holding the button for about 10 seconds more, until you hear a chime or other sound confirming that the device is resetting.

If you're still having trouble after resetting, don't get discouraged The Google Nest Help website has some more detailed instructions that might solve the issue. But if the inconvenience persist please fill out this form to provide you with a personalized service.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for your reply.  Unfortunately, the Center button (at the top of the Nest) also does not work.

The center button, as well as both side buttons that control volume, do not respond when touched.

Because these buttons are not responding, I did attempt the reset I mentioned above that was listed elsewhere in this forum as a secondary method to reseting the device (unplugging 10x).  That didn't work either. I did look for help elsewhere on the Google Nest Help website, to no avail.

I will fill out the form you have linked and hopefully someone can contact me and have this resolved. I really love my Google Nest Audio speaker and I will be really sad if I have to go back to using my Alexa device 😞
