Cannot change WiFi password on home mini

DavidB25

I changed my home WiFi password after my security software warned me of some possible issues. Now I cannot get my three Home Mini devices to reconnect. Every help file I've found has gotten me to a dead end or some command that doesn't exist on my phone. I have not been able to reset the Home Mini to factory config using either of the instruction sets I've found. I've checked and believe I have the most recent Google Home app. It's clear to me that there is some communication between my app and the Home Mini because I can see lights change color or the Mini tells me it cannot connect because of WiFi issues. I even returned my home WiFi to the old password, removed the WiFi from the Home Mini device, then changed the WiFi back to the new password and attempted to install a new device. That ran into the same dead ends. I welcome any ideas.

Hi @DavidB25,

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing inconveniences while connecting your Google Nest speakers after you changed the password of your Wi-Fi network. I'm happy to help.

Before providing some troubleshooting steps, please provide the information requested below:

  1. What model of Google Nest speakers do you have?
    • To identify the model of your Google Nest speakers, you can compare them with the ones shown in the article below to factory reset them.
  2. What error message are you receiving during setup?
  3. Did you remove your Google Nest speakers from the Google Home app after factory resetting them?
  4. How far are your Google Nest speakers from the Wi-Fi router?
  5. Depending on the model of your Google Nest speakers, please confirm you follow the steps to factory reset them as indicated in the article Factory reset Google Nest or Home speakers or displays.

In the meantime, I recommend visiting the article Fix issues with a Nest speaker or display not connecting to Wi-Fi.

Please keep me posted.

Regards,

Anders
