Cannot reconnect to cast after first connection

Hello, 

I recently encounter a situation, where, after I connect my phone to Google Home Mini cast (cast audio in Home App), and after I disconnect then I can never reconnect back to it nor can I control it anymore. Restarting the phone fixes the issue or sometimes even clearing Google play services data helps. I have another phone which works with the same Android version (14). On both phones the cast possibility does not appear in different apps, only at some points in time, randomly.

I figured it out as being a Wi-Fi issue. Google Home Mini works perfectly with 2.4GHz network, only with 5GHz network the issue appears. It is either a phone issue or a device issue with this type of Wi-Fi network.

Here are some recommendations for setup:

  • The Nest Mini works on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies. Both can experience congestion due to interference from other devices. Positioning the devices closer to the router or extender can improve their ability to overcome network noise.

  • The Nest Mini should be positioned approximately 15 to 20 feet from the Wi-Fi router. This close proximity allows for the best possible WiFi connection.
