Cannot stop Google home custom message at night

DeniseDenise

Hi!

I somehow set up a message/annoucement for 1030pm every night telling to go floss and get myself to bed.

I've had a baby and am now going to bed way before this message but I CANNOT FIND WHERE IT WAS SET UP. so, unfortunately, I haven't been able to delete it. It keeps playing - I'm scared it will wake up the baby every night!

Ive checked routines but there's nothing there on my Google home app. Where do I find this message?

Does anyone know how to switch it off!?

Hi DeniseDenise,

Thanks for posting.

To be clear, the message that you’re receiving every night, are you  getting it from your phone or from your Google Home/Nest device? If the notification is coming from your Google Home/Nest device, try the steps below:

  1. Make sure the customer's mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as the speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app .
  3. At the top right, tap the account icon.
  4. Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to the Google Home or Google Nest device. To switch accounts, tap another account or Add another account.
  5. Go back to home view .
  6. Tap the device card of the preferred speaker.
  7. At the top right, tap Settings and then Notifications and digital wellbeing.
  8. Tap the slider on or off.

Keep me updated.

Best,

Dan

firstly, Thank you s much for you help Dan_A!!! I hope it works!

Yes, the message (which i wrote over a year ago) is coming though via my google home speaker. The device was connected to the correct Wifi network & google account.

I have slid the slider into the off position. Fingers crossed!

I still must have written that custom message somewhere though... i should be able to find it? Do you have any ideas as to where this could be?

Hey DeniseDenise,

Chiming in, how many accounts are linked on the Google Home app? If multiple accounts, please check other accounts if there's a routine setup for that announcement.

Keep us posted.

Muddi

Just one account.

And the message went off again tonight so still looking for a solution 😭

Thank you for the suggestion though!!

Hi - just an update. I have found it! it was saved as a "family bell"!

It's now off!

Thank you for your help!

Hi Dan_A,

just an update. The 10:30pm message went off again, despite moving the slider around lunchtime 😭

Back to the drawing board 😥

Was it maybe set as a reminder? Like; remind me everyday at 10:30 to floss my teeth? Might be worth a check.

Home App>Settings>Google Assistant>Manage All Assistant Settings>Reminders

Thank you!!! IT WAS in the Assistant settings - but not a reminder it was a "family bell"!! i have found it and have switched it off!!!

Thank you for helping me get there!
