Cant cast from to my speaker group in Home. Just received a new Home Hub Max. I see this is a probl

Why cant i cast to my speaker GROUP within Home app. I can connect to one device at a time but not the whole group. I see this is an issue with many users. Has this been corrected?

I understand how it feels when you're having issues casting to your speaker group. Let's dig deeper. 

 

A few questions:

 

  • When did the issue start?
  • Are you able to play music on your speaker group via voice command?
  • Are you able to cast to your speaker group from a cast-enabled app like YouTube Music and Spotify?
  • How far are you from your devices when casting?
  • Have you tried using a different phone/tablet?

Let's go ahead and do a sequential reboot. This includes all your speakers and router. Reboot your Google Home/Nest devices and router by disconnecting them from the power source and leave them unplugged for 1 minute. Once done, plug them back one at a time with intervals then check if you will still have the same issue.

Good morning. 

1. I recently installed the Home Hub Max.

2. Voice command yes on single device.

3. I can only cast to a single device from YouTube. A YouTube playlist that i created only to the audio group. Not another list created by YouTube or a "radio station". These can only cast to a single device.

4. Phone is 5 feet away.

6. Its my only phone. No tablet.

 

6. Yes i have rebooted every device one at a time when trying to cinnect to the group. Thats a no go here.

Thanks for the information. To confirm, are you trying to cast from the YouTube Music app or video? If you are trying to cast a video, you can only cast it on your Nest display and not on a speaker.

Trying to cast from YouTube Music app. To soeaker group in my Home. No video. Not trying to cast video. Trying to cast from a youtube " radio station" or a list created for me by YouTube Music.

I appreciate your quick response. To confirm, do you have a premium account with YouTube Music? Also, have you tried casting using a different music services like Spotify?

Hi Moontheloon,

 

Got it! Just an added question: what is the make and model of your phone? Are you using a dual-band router? Please try these voice commands on any of your speakers: "Play rock on <group name>". Also, please make sure that the mobile data on your device is disabled.

I still cant cast from my Premium Google YouTube account to my Home speaker group. The music audio list is generated by YouTube. I can cast to a single device witin the Speaker group but not the whole group. MY audio lists that i create I can cast to the speaker grouo as a whole so all devices witin that group. Just not the radio station or the playlist that is generated by YouTube

Thanks for the response. Sorry that you are still experiencing the issue.  What are the other Nest speakers that you own aside from your Nest Hub Max?  You can try to delete the speaker group and create a new one, then observe if this will make a difference.

I still cannot cast from my s22 phone using Google Premium Music services to a speaker group on my new Google Home Max. This would be casting a YouTube created setlist or radio station by YouTube Premium.  I can cast to a single device but not the group. I have exlzined this numerous times to Google support onky to handed off to yet another technician who foes this whole dance with me again and never never has Google support provided any type of resolutin. Yes i reboited each devive to incluse router and modem. Nothing so if this feature is not able to cast to a whole audio group due to YouTube generated playlists or radio stations just say so. Yeah go a head and lock this thread and ill move on to something more functional

I genuinely understand the inconvenience you have faced. I am in this right away. Could you try to delete the speaker group and create a new one? Also we can try to further isolate by using another app like Spotify when casting.
