Cast audio to nest

When I cast to my nest there is no sound - the home app states that it is "now playing" but silence. I can play Spotify using hey Google so the speaker is not the issue. Have reinstalled home app and restarted phone etc

Thank you for posting in the community! I’m sorry to hear that your Nest Audio isn’t getting any sound when you’re casting. I'd be happy to help!

 

As you’ve mentioned, the speaker is able to play music through the Google Assistant. To better investigate the situation, I’d like to ask the following:

 

  • What type of mobile device do you have (Apple or Android)?
  • Have you checked if you can still control the sound or change the music through the Nest Audio?

For now, I’d suggest the following steps:

 

  • Update Software: Ensure you have the latest versions of the Google Home app and your mobile software.
  • Check Nest Audio Firmware: Verify the firmware version of your Nest Audio. Refer to this article for details: Google speaker and display firmware versions and release notes.
  • Network Connectivity: Verify that your mobile device and Nest Audio are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Device Restart: Restart both your mobile device and Nest Audio. For reference, you can check out this article: Reboot Google Nest or Home speaker or display.
  • Test with different music service: If possible, try testing from a different music service provider to see if you get the same behavior.
