Weather Not Working with Nest Hub or speakers

CbusEric
Community Member

The weather (temperature, air quality) is not displaying on our Nest Hub within the last couple weeks. It used to do so just fine, in the bottom left corner. We have enabled all settings, made sure our Hub is linked to our home address, and done a reset of the Hub.

Additionally, all of our Nest speakers no longer recognize our location when we ask about weather.  "Hey Google, what's the weather going to be like today?" used to suffice, but now it says it doesn't know or doesn't recognize the question.

This seemingly happened out of the blue and for no apparent reason.

Hi CbusEric,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I am sorry that you are experiencing issues with your Google Nest Hub and speakers when checking the weather. But no need to worry, help is here.

Before we get started with further troubleshooting, let me ask you some questions:

  1. When did the behavior start?
  2. What Google Nest Hub do you have? (1st Generation or 2nd Generation)
  3. What model of speakers do you have?
  4. What's the Fuchsia version of your display?

Here are some additional troubleshooting steps for your Nest Hub or speakers not displaying weather:

  1. Check Wi-Fi Connection:
    • Ensure your Nest Hub is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network. A weak connection can affect weather data retrieval.
  2. Update Nest Hub:
    • Go to Settings > System > Software update to check for and install any available updates for your Nest Hub.
    • Update Firmware: Check for any available firmware updates for your Nest devices.
  3. Check Google Home App:
    • Ensure the Google Home app is up-to-date and running smoothly.

I understand that you have tried the following options, but please make sure to review the process and check all the settings are correctly configured:

  1. Verify Location Settings:
    • In the Google Home app, go to your Nest Hub's settings and check if the location is set correctly.
    • If necessary, tap "Change location" and select your current location.
  2. Troubleshoot Google Assistant:
    • Try using other voice commands to see if Google Assistant is functioning correctly.
    • If you encounter issues with other commands, it might be a broader Google Assistant problem.
    • In the Google Home app, go to Assistant Settings > Your Places and verify your home location is correct.
  3. Reset Device:

Please keep me posted.

Best,
