I'm trying to cast local music files from vlc for windows to google nest audio. I have no trouble when using vlc for android. In the windows software I can select the renderer and the music files. Nothing happens when I press play. The display indicates play mode and the cursor remains at zero seconds. I can play the same files from the windows box using a speaker connected to a DAC. I have no trouble using vlc for android using the same renderer and files as I tried in windows. I've tried rebooting and resetting.

Hi williemctell,
Thanks for reaching out to our community.
I understand you're trying to cast local music files from VLC for Windows to your Google Nest Audio, but it isn't working, even though it works perfectly from VLC for Android using the same files. I appreciate the troubleshooting steps you've already taken, such as rebooting and resetting the device. Don’t worry, I'm happy to help you with this.
Before we start further troubleshooting, I have a few questions for you:
Please keep me posted.
Best regards,
Virna

Other than the Chrome browser, VLC is the only Chromecast capable software installed on the computer. I can cast from the Chrome browser.
The files I'm trying to cast are standard audio files. I've tried both FLAC and mp3. I've never encountered a VLC file. Is that a type of audio file?
The Nest Audio firmware is 476451.

Hi williemctell,
Thanks for kindly responding to my questions. My apologies for the misunderstanding regarding the VLC files. To clarify, has casting an audio file from VLC media player from your Windows device ever worked for you?
I look forward to your response.
Best regards,

No, I've never succeeded in casting to my Nest Audio using VLC. VLC recognizes it as a renderer. When I select it as the renderer the Nest Audio beeps in response. When I start to play a file VLC goes into play mode but the counter sticks at zero seconds.
