Casting and playing YouTube app crashes on 1 gen hub displays

Hey guys over the past month or so when trying to use YouTube on my first generation displays the app begins to launch and then crashes. I've reset the displays multiple times remove them from the home app then reconnect to them with no true fix. At times after a factory reset it will work for a day and then go right back to crashing on start. I also own the second gen hub and the hub max and have not had this problem with those devices. The only thing that seems to work is when casting YouTube music to the home group these displays will play the music but anything else won't work I was wondering if anyone has a solution to this.

Hi MrFalcon,

I'm sorry you're having trouble with your Nest Hub when playing YouTube Music and thank you for doing the troubleshooting steps beforehand ― let's check it out. A few questions: is it only happening when playing YouTube Music? What is the error when giving a voice command to play YouTube Music? Are all your devices in a speaker group? If yes, it would help a lot if you could remove your Nest Hub from the speaker group and have it play music from YouTube Music and other music platforms

Tell us how it goes.

Best,

Dan

Hey Dan,

Thanks for the support. I was actually able to find the answer to the problem. After realizing that the only devices affected were my kids displays. After processing this I realized that on the Wi-Fi network allocated to my kids I set parental controls blocking applications like YouTube and YouTube music. Cue the facepalm. 😆

Hi MrFalcon,

Awesome! Glad to know that everything is all sorted out.

Since this has been resolved, we'll consider this complete and will lock the thread in 24 hours. Feel free to start a new one if you need assistance with your Google Nest speakers and the team would gladly lend a hand.

Best,
