Home app didn't let me forget the network. It just goes through the motions and tells me to reset it. Completely inconvenient for just changing a router. Then it tells me another user already set up this device and a factory reset is in order. Are you kidding me??

Unfortunately, Google Nest does not make it easy to change Wi-Fi settings on most of its devices. That's why their first recommendation when getting a new router/modem is to set the network name (SSID) and password to the same values used on the old router/modem.
If that's not possible, then their process is removing the Google Nest device from the Google Nest app or Google Home app while still on your old Wi-Fi network, then doing a factory reset, and then reinstalling the device while on your new Wi-Fi network.

Sadly, the same name and password is used for the router (which the nest hub used to work perfectly on)
Extremely ridiculous that the network can't be forgotten or just simply apply a new network. It's like being in 1996. Hard to fathom this pathetic design flaw exists in a 2023 product

Hi folks,
@MplsCustomer, thanks for the help.
@Beedub, that certainly isn't the experience we want you to have and apologies for the inconvenience ― let's get you connected to your new router. A few questions, what Nest speakers do you have? How far are they from your router? For our troubleshooting, kindly follow the steps below:
If your speaker or display isn’t connected to a Wi-Fi network and you want to set up your speaker or display on the new Wi-Fi network:
If these steps don’t solve the issue, you’ll need to factory reset your speaker or display, then set it up again.
If your speaker or display is connected to an existing Wi-Fi network, but you'd like to connect it to a new one, follow the steps below:
If you get an error message that says "could not communicate with your [device]" when you try to forget your network, or the steps above don't work, you'll need to factory reset your device and set it up again.
Keep us posted.
Cheers,
Dan

Hi Beedub,
Got it! For confirmation, your Nest Hub is now connected to your new Wi-Fi, correct? If so, that would be awesome — glad to hear that your issue is fixed. It looks like we can consider this one complete, so I will lock the thread in 24 hours unless I can help out with anything else.
Kind regards,
Dan
