In Chihuahua México, the government changed the time zone from MST to CST on Oct 30th. Google home keeps using the wrong time zone, messing up with the calendar and the google home devices!
Chihuahua is using the CST time zone. Is there a way to change it? The Google Home app has the correct address, but the home devices still use the old time zone.

There are numerous reports like yours in this forum. The problem is that Google has a database where they store the timezone for addresses worldwide, and Google has errors in that database, or they fail to update it. They do NOT allow the customer to set their own timezone.
Google Nest has not been very responsive on this. They tell the customer to reboot or reset their device, or they refuse to acknowledge that Google has such a database, or they tell customers to go to the Google Maps community forum, or various other responses.
In many months of reading such reports, I have yet to see a single one where Google Nest has acknowledged and fixed an address/timezone error for a customer.

Hi folks,
Thanks for posting, we just want to confirm. Does your phone’s Google assistant give you the same result? Could you all try this command on your phone’s Google assistant “Hey google, what's the time in <city>” then let us know if you are getting the same result by updating this thread?
Looking forward to your responses.
Thanks,
Juni

I already checked,
"google assistant app" gives correct result,
"google home app" mic button gives wrong result
(chromecast and bed clocks based on google home gives wrong time too)

Problem persists, no solution yet

As best as I can tell, Google Nest is refusing to address this issue. The problem is that Google Nest relies on a Google database that assigns time zones for all addresses worldwide, and that database has errors in it, and Google Nest has no process for fixing errors in that database, or even acknowledging that there are errors in the database, or even acknowledging that such a database even exists.

Hi,
I have the same problem for a while now, also in Chihuahua. I double checked the address from my home I pinned exactly at my house, but the hub still shows old time zone. Also tried rebooting and a total reset of the hub but still shows the old time zone.
Is there any other options?
I also sent feedback from my hub with the same the keywords "GHT3..."

This seems to be a problem in Jalisco as well. I recently bought a new Nest Hub and more speakers. The time is not correct for Jalisco, off by one hour. Any suggestions?

There is no solution for now, Chihuahua has been wrong since October last year.... Now that it affects all of Mexico, I'm crossing my fingers to see if they fix it.......... Something as simple as showing the correct time 🙃🙃🙃 Just give us a time zone selector
04-04-2023 10:39 PM
that it affects all of mexico is unlikely to change anything. this problem affects many border areas all around the world, has been like that before it started affecting all of mexico.

The same problem any update over this issue ??
Living with the wrong time all over my home is annoying!

Can't believe this hasn't been resolved after actual MONTHS.

If you ask for the time in Chihuahua google responds with the correct time. But, if you only ask for the time it gives you an incorrect time. Google home takes the time zone from the address, if you ask for the time zone it gives you your address and the incorrect time zone…which is exactly the issue!! Someone needs to update the time zone in the google home address settings or give us an option to update manually!

Hi any updates? My smart clocks, Google TV and the assistant are still wrong. They are giving me the wrong hour and setting up alarms and routines is a total headache.
It seems you need to approach this problem by little steps. Because Google stores the time zones by postal codes and the postal codes for the state of Chihuahua are not mapped correctly.
So first things first update the postal code map of Chihuahua:
Click on descargar you will get a kml file of each of the postal codes of the state of Chihuahua, as users we can't update those.
2nd step update the time zone according to the postal code. After the new law was enacted the state of Chihuahua has 3 time zones, this is because the border cities have to function in conjunction with Texas's border cities. I made you a Sheets document with the time zone corresponding to each Postal Code.
Juarez time will be MST/MDT, Ojinaga time will be CST/CDT and the rest of the state will be CST all the year.
Sheet with Chihuahua's new Timezones
Info on the time changes:
https://www.timeanddate.com/news/time/mexico-time-zone-change-2022.html
I want this to work, you could totally avoid all this work if you let your users select their time zones instead of using geo location, postal codes system you have. Like your competitors do.

I think this is a problem Google Nest needs to fix.

Why??? This is still an issue, since October we are getting the hour incorrectly, something as simple as the hour. What are we going to put on the new thread?

Can you give us a reason why you're closing it, if it's still not working?
Is this because of some internal metric that you need to close a ticket before certain time.......... It hasn't been fixed!!!
