Connect Nest Hub Max to Password Protected Wifi

Hello,

I am trying to set up my Nest Hub Max and I cannot connect to the wifi. I believe it is because my wifi is password protected, but the Nest Hub never prompts me to put in a password. Any suggestions?

Hi Samaludl,

Glad you reached out.

Sorry to hear about your experience with connecting your Google Nest Hub Max to your network. A few things I'd like to verify regarding this:

  • Are there any Google Home/Nest speakers connected to your network?
  • Are there any settings or restrictions set on your router? If yes, do you know how to access your router settings?

Let's go ahead and try these steps first and let's see if this would make any changes. Make sure that when you set up your Google Nest Hub Max, it must be within range from your router preferably within 10-15 feet from the router.

  1.  Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap your device.
  3. At the top right corner, tap Settings  and then Device information.
  4. Next to "Wi-Fi," tap Forget. You’ll be taken back to the Home app home screen.
  5. Follow the setup steps to set up your device on the new Wi-Fi network.

If you get an error message that says "could not communicate with your [device]" when you try to forget your network, or the steps above don't work, you'll need to factory reset your device and set it up again.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Princess
