Connectivity issues

GianMarco
Community Member
This one I've had forever.  Randomly, connection between my phone and nest audio either drops or can´t be stablished.
I can explain it in a couple scenarios:
  1. Nest Audio doesn't appear in the list of connected devices, in which case I have to unplug it and turn it on again. This happens in every app (spotify and google podcasts). And yes, nest audio is in the same wifi as my phone.
  2. I succesfully connect to Nest Audio and listen to whatever, but randomly my phone loses connection. Strangely, Nest Audio keeps playing the media, but the app pauses it and says it´s not connected to any media cast device. The result is that I can press play on my phone and hear the same media (with several minutes offset) that is still playing on the nest audio. Maybe I'm not explaining it well, but please bear with me.
  3. I try to connect to nest audio from my phone, but my phone can't.  It just keeps displaying "connecting..." but never does. Again I have to restart the nest audio and sometimes my phone.
This only happens with nest audio, never had any issues with my chromecast or any other casting device.

Any ideas on how to solve this? I have a Pixel 5 if it helps to know.

Thanks

Hi GianMarco,

Thanks for reaching out.

We know how it feels if something’s not going your way. Let’s get to the bottom of this.

I’ll be asking some question to narrow things down:

  • How long did the device work before the connectivity concern started?
  • Did the device give an audible message? What was it?
  • How often does it happen in a day?

You can try the steps below:

  • Unplug the power cord from the speaker.
  • Leave it unplugged for one minute.
  • Plug the power cord back in.
  • If a reboot doesn't fix it, perform a factory reset.
  • If the concern still persists, reply back on the status.

We'll get through this! Keep me posted.

Best,

Dan

Sorry, didn't see that I got I reply.

Answering your questions:

  • Hard to say how long has the device working. It's not old but also not brand new, I've had it for a year or so (kind of).
  • The device does not give any audible message.
  • At leaste once a day

Regarding the steps you mentioned:

  • Done
  • Done
  • Done
  • Haven't done it yet

Unplugging and plugging usually fix the issue but the same keeps coming back every time.

Hi GianMarco,

That certainly hasn't been easy for you and great job doing the steps sent your way. The only thing left to do is the factory reset. Doing the factory reset reverts your Google Nest Audio to its default/original settings. Setting it back up is a must. This will make a lot of difference. Observe afterwards.

To have a flawless set up, click this link Set up your Google Nest or Home speaker or display.

Respectfully,

Dan
