Cracking and popping noises when playing music

Since August my Google Nest Mini has been making cracking and popping noises WHILE playing music from YouTube Music. I have tried every possible solution found online, including factory resetting it. Nothing has changed. It isn't consistent, meaning it doesn't happen every song, but it happens more than 80% of the time while I am listening to music during my workday - and it is annoying. I previously posted about this and it was closed with no resolution. Now I am also noticing the noise while streaming music from TuneIn. However, if I use Bluetooth from my phone, there is no noise. I see other posts regarding this issue, but what is the resolution?

We're sorry to hear about what happened. I also appreciate all the efforts in trying some steps to resolve this. Let's sort things out by answering these questions:

 

  • What's the distance between your Google Nest Mini from your router?
  • Does it also happen when you try to ask your Google Nest Mini basic commands like weather, time or any questions?
  • What's its cast firmware version?

To check which firmware version you're on, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap your device's tile.
  3. Tap Settings and then Device information.
  4. Under "Technical information," check for Cast firmware: "X.XXX.XXXXX." If the device is on Fuchsia, check for System firmware version: "X.XXXXXXXX.X.XXXXXXX".

My router and Mini are only about 8 feet apart. The noises do not happen during basic commands. As stated in my post, it's during playing/streaming music. I also noticed it a few times during the news podcasts that play as part of a routine. The System firmware is: 375114 and the Cast firmware: 2.57.375114
