Creating a speaker group

ArnoK
Community Member

Hi,

having had the google Nest hub for a while now it made sense to add Nest Mini into the house as well for one of the reasons that we want to be able to play the same music in two rooms at the same time.

upon creating the group to make this working it keeps on failing with an error.

(com.google.castframework.setuplib.castsetuperror error 0)

Anyone any clue on how to get the group setup.  Thanks.

Hello ArnoK,

Thanks for posting here in the community forum. I understand you may be encountering difficulties creating a speaker group with your Google Mini and Nest Hub. But no worries; I’m more than happy to assist you.

Let’s check these recommendations:

  • Ensure your speaker is updated to firmware version 3.73 or above. This should allow you to set up speaker groups. Here you can check the firmware versions: Google speaker and display firmware versions and release notes.
  • If you continue to have issues with your speaker group, please remove any devices not listed above, then test again.

To get more information, you can check out this article: Create and manage speaker groups in the Google Home app

Keep me posted so I can provide you with further assistance.

Best regards,

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

both devices do have firmware 3.73 or above.

With removing not listed devices, you mean not listed other speakers? As I do have a non Google speaker linked to our google home. What you are saying then is to remove this from google home and then create the speaker group?

cheers Arno

Hey ArnoK,

Thank you so much for keeping me updated.

Here is a list of steps that you can try:

  • Ensure that your speakers are up to date.
  • Remove your speakers from the Google Home app.
  • Add the speakers that you want to use again and create a speaker group, following these steps.

  1. Ensure your phone or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as your speaker, display, Google streaming devices, or Pixel Tablet.
  2. Open the Google Home app. Google Home app.
  3. Tap Settings  Devices, groups & rooms. Speaker groups Create a speaker group.
  4. Tap each device that you want to add to the group. A check will appear next to each selected device.
  5. Tap Next, enter a name for your group, and tap Save.

Let me know how it goes, keeping me posted.

Best regards,

Daniel

Hi, @ArnoK,

Thank you so much for your prompt response. I’m truly sorry you are receiving an error message when you try to create the speaker group. I’m happy to provide you further assistance.

Since you already double checked the firmware on the Nest hub and Nest mini are updated, please follow these troubleshooting steps:

If the problem persists after completing these troubleshooting steps, you might need to delete the Google Home app, restart your mobile device, reinstall the Google Home app, and try to create the speakers group again.

Additionally, consider creating a speaker group from a different mobile device or tablet.

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Ana
