Date display on Nest Hub Homescreen

Hyd_Ro
Community Member

My previous thread has been closed stating there's no activity and that there's no update on this issue almost a year on. This is not a solution. The issue should be pinned to the top of the board for any self-respecting Google Nest Hub designer/developer. This $200 device cannot display today's date/day on the home screen and you want this issue to go away. Of all the basic things a bedside display is expected to do, all you've managed is a full-screen time display. PLEASE share the feedback with whoever cares about the strategic longevity of this product to introduce a release to display today's date on the home screen! Beyond belief that simple $20 alarm clocks are able to display the date and Google would be so nonchalant about such a basic request on a premium device.

just had the same thing happen- no activity so we'll close it. this site seems unhelpful. not sure why i'd come back. or ever buy another google product for that matter. in my case the photo album is buggy and has been for years. a lot of clunkiness has remained. is anyone working on this product at google? feels like a no to me.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

@Hyd_Ro, sorry to hear about what happened from the previous threads. To answer your concerns about displaying time and date, it's already available on Google Nest displays as long as you have selected "Art Gallery" or "Google Photos" from the photo frame settings from the Google Nest Hub. Here's the steps on how to access it:

Google Home app:

  1. Open the Google Home app .
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. At the top right, tap Settings and then Photo Frame and then adjust the settings you want.

Nest display:

  1. From the bottom of your Nest display screen, swipe up.
  2. Tap Settings .
  3. Tap Photo Frame and then adjust the settings you want.

@b7, apologies for what happened about your previous threads. I know that this are two different topics but could you please send us a link of those threads so we can reopen it?

Looking forward to your responses.

Best,

Princess

Hi Princess. Thank you the reply. Where exactly is the date shown using Photo Frames? There is no option in settings to show today's date. The experimental Frog display shows the day of week but not date. Can you please share more details about your solution?

Hi Hyd_Ro,

Thanks for responding.

As you go to the photo frame settings, make sure to select "Art Gallery" or "Google Photos". If date is still not appearing, let's try to reset your Google Nest display to see if it will fix this.

Lastly, if you could attach a photo of your screen, that would be very helpful.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Princess

How do I post photos here on the community page please? I tried attaching a photo and the reply dialogue box asks for a bunch of details about the image source/size and then inserts a blank frame.  Tried pasting a screenshot and I'm told 'You do not have permission to upload images.'

Can I send them to you via email? If you can find any picture on the internet of a Google Hub Nest Max home screen (in Art Frame or Google Photos setting) that shows the date, can you share the link? Meanwhile, could you read this - https://www.makeuseof.com/change-clock-face-google-nest-hub/

(Search "date" on the page for the relevant section).

Hi Sean__Wong

How are you? If you don't mind me asking, do you have a Google Nest device that you wanted help with? Do you have the same as the above thread? Tell us more about it, we're here to help.

Best regards,

Dan

@Dan_A

inhave a nest home hub  in my kitchen and use it primarily as a clock and picture digital picture frame.  It’s good for that but it has only date display on pictures.
I like everyone else cannot understand why a clock face WITH date is not offered.

@Hyd_Ro Any update on case ID: 7-2680000032633. ?

Just what you found. After nearly 2 years of following up they added date display to picture mode, in small font. Nothing on standard clock faces. Living with it.

Hi folks,

I totally understand that having to show the date along with the time in the Clock Face is very useful to use with your Nest Hub, but these features are not available. It's different from the time and date when photo frame is selected. We appreciate people who are keen on sharing their thoughts with us. We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take this as feedback. Let me know if you have other questions or concerns, otherwise I’ll be locking this thread after 24 hours.

Best,

Dan

@Dan_A  perhaps if you ask the engineering or UX team to explain why it can’t be put on the roadmap it would help.

it seems speculation that the device hardware doesn’t support local date is the prevalent thread.  This would be supported by the availability of a date over lay on the REMOTELY refreshed picture UX but not natively on the LOXAL clock UX. MEANING it will NEVER be possible. So we can all move on to buying a mounting solution for another product.

Im going to experiment with an album of blank pictures I’m thinking to create a gradient tone so the tiny date is visible.

if you’ve already tried this I’m sure future thread visitors will appreciate the idea.

Hey there,

About your concern showing the time and date on your Nest Hub, it's already available on Google Nest displays as long as you have selected "Art Gallery" or "Google Photos" from the photo frame settings from the Google Nest Hub. Here's the steps on how to access it:

Google Home app:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. At the top right, tap Settings > Photo Frame > adjust the settings you want.

Nest display:

  1. From the bottom of your Nest display screen, swipe up.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Photo Frame > adjust the settings you want.

But for the Clock Face to have a date, we apologize since it's not available. Let us know if you have additional questions let us know for this thread will be locked after 24 hours.

Take care.

Cheers,

Dan
