Dead air courtesy of google

So this is a new thing...I'm guessing that in an effort to stop the ads they have written a code to block sound...so all is well then there will be a total drop of any sound...10 -15 seconds later we're back to proper audio. Still getting some odd cracks, and breaks in the all night sound machine feature... I have great bandwidth and a google mesh wifi system...so that can't be it?

Hi boonzer,

Sorry to hear about your experience on the Google Home/Nest device - I'd love to help! A few questions: when did the issue start? How often does it happen? What specific Google Home/nest device do you have?

Also, please share a video showing the issue so we can have a better picture on what's happening with your device.

Looking forward to your response.

Cheers,
Muddi

Hey boonzer,

I understand. How often does it happen? Do you still remember when you noticed the issue? Also, what music or radio provider are you experiencing this issue?

Hi Muddi, the dead air has been happening since my initial complaint about ads airing. It has become more frequent since; what I assume, are you working on the removal of ads.

The dead air is usually about as long as a commercial 10/15 seconds

Hi boonzer,

When do you usually hear the ads (While listening to music or when the device is on stand-by mode)? Also, what specific Google Home/Nest device do you have?

Hi Muddi, it's when listening to music, so that could be youtube music or radio, or during sound machine mode during the nights

Hey boonzer,

To confirm, do you have a premium account with YouTube Music? Also, are you getting ads from TuneIn?

Muddi

Hello Muddi, the ads I'm getting seem to be coming through Tune-in radio... In a world of bleed me monthly it seems i can't be free of ads through Google unless i pay for YouTube music premium, have a Google one accounts now i need a radio subscription as well.... It's all a bit maddening... I'm still getting dead air, i haven't sorted that one out yet.

Hey boonzer,

Thanks for coming back to us. There's an update from TuneIn wherein users will hear ads if you are using their free app. For your reference, please visit this link. Moving forward, could you tell us more about the dead air? Does it happen while playing songs from YouTube Music?

Hi again Muddi.

The dead air happens during the night when it's playing sound machine sounds (waves, rain, ECT)

Mostly the dead air happens while playing tune-in radio during the workday,  i haven't heard it through YouTube music, but honestly it's easier to find it on my device then cast it to Google devices than to have Google do it.

Hey boonzer,

I appreciate all the information. I was thinking that it has something to do with the TuneIn advertisement. Is it possible that you could send a video so we can further check what's going with your device? A video will be very helpful.

Cheers,

Muddi
