I am starting week three with SiriusXM streaming problems.
I have a case number with them. I can play a station, but it does not advance to the next song. SiriusXM reported the entire Google Nest ecosystem has the same problem and they are not clear on the cause. They have multiple stations with the same problem.
I also have YouTube Music subscription that is not working consistently with my Google Speaker or My Nest Hub (2nd Generation) during the past two weeks to play songs I know are there in my play history.
Clearly, the problem is with Google.

Hello shdawson,
Thanks for sharing details about the issue here. I know how challenging it is when you're having issues playing music on your Google Nest Hub (2nd gen). To confirm, are you experiencing the same issue when playing the stations on the native app? Are you playing it on a speaker group or individual device? Also, please list down all the Google Home/Nest devices that you have. For YouTube Music, what specific command are you saying? Do you have a premium service?
Looking forward to your response.
Cheers,
Muddi

Thanks.
I am trying to use either Chrome on my laptop, Nest Hub (2nd Generation) or voice control from Google Nest Speaker to play a YouTube video. They all bring the same result, a restriction message from my Chromecast 2nd Generation device.

Just found and read this article.

Hi there,
Thanks for sharing the link. I'll check that with the team and get back to you for updates. About the YouTube Music issue, what specific message are you getting? Also, could you tell us what country are you located in?
Cheers,
Muddi

Not YouTube music, YouTube movies. This is where the restriction message is occuring.
My YouTube Music subscription works, but it does not play the songs when I call them by name with voice control whereas the have for over a year. That is another problem to be resolved.
I am in the US.

Hello shdawson,
Let's address each issue one at a time. Could you tell us the specific message that you are getting when casting? Also, could you share a photo showing the issue so we have a better picture of what's happening?
Thanks,
Muddi

Here is what shows on the TV when using the Chromecast 2nd Generation device for the past two weeks.

Something went wrong
This video is unavailable with Restricted Mode enabled. To view this video, you will need to disable Restricted mode.

I cast from either my phone using the YouTube video application or my laptop using the Chrome application.

Hey shdawson,
Please check if the restricted mode is enabled on your YouTube account. Visit this link or follow the steps below to know-how:

Thanks.
There is no Restricted Mode option to change in this menu location.

Hi there,
Thanks for confirming. What is the make and model of your router? Also, have you tried calling YouTube to check if they are getting similar reports?
Cheers,
Muddi

What does a router have to do with it when the Google TV app works to control the Chromecast device at my home?
YouTube has disabled posting to their community. They point to the same instructions as you, but do not understand the YouTube menu does not have the cited option of altering YouTube restrictions.

FOUND IT!
The setting is now located at YouTube.com in the Chrome browser, click on picture of profile, and there is an option of Restricted Mode. The setting is confirmed as OFF. Still cannot play a video from YouTube to Chromecast 2nd Generation device.
So, IT IS a Google device problem. It IS NOT YouTube problem.
Now, perhaps Google will take responsibility and fix the problem.

Hey shdawson,
Please toggle on/off the restricted mode settings on your YouTube account. Once done, reboot your devices then check if you'll be able to cast.

Hi Muddi,
All devices work as expected now with a single exception. Specifically, Google TV. The application now does not cast the movie to my Chromecast as it did two weeks ago. All it says is cannot cast to Chromecast, please select another device.
QUESTION
How does one set Google TV to use YouTube to cast to Chromecast 2nd Generation device on the same local network?
Thanks,
Stephen

Hi there,
Thanks for the update. To confirm, are you trying to cast from a Google TV to your Chromecast (2nd gen)? Are you trying to cast via voice command using the Google TV?
Cheers,
Muddi

Trying both options.

Hey shdawson,
To confirm, does the same thing happen when you try using the Nest Hub to cast or play anything to your Chromecast device?
Cheers,
Muddi

Not anymore. The problems have resolved in the past week by some mysterious update to YouTube.
So, Google TV is the mystery.

Hi shdawson,
Thanks for confirming. I'll check this with the team and get back on this thread for update.

Hello shdawson,
Apologies for the delays. After further investigation, casting via voice command using the remote of your Google TV is not supported. The remote is specifically designed to control the TV where the Google TV is connected. I recommend using your Nest speakers to cast a video to your Chromecast device.
If you have any additional questions, please let us know. Otherwise, I will close the thread after 24 hours.

Muddi
