Different Wifi’s

Hi,

I have a relative in a home that’s vulnerable and I’m thinking they might be locked down soon because of COVID. What I would like to do is put a nest mini or display in their home, and have it connected to our Google Home so that we can broadcast to one another, etc.. Stay connected, like a Google home social bubble. This person is by no means competent with technology. 

From my understanding, all devices in the same Google Home have to be on the same WiFi network, so it’s not possible to have two devices on two wifi networks all part of one Google Home network. Is that right or is there something I haven’t thought of?

Hi @seanroryquinn you've read it correctly. All devices must be on the same account and WiFi network in order to function properly and use features like broadcast.

Why not set them up with their own device Nest Hub Max and account and create the same bubble using Duo or voice calls? Why complicate matters with trying to rig it to your WiFi in a far-off location? 😊

Thanks for the reply. I avoided setting up the voice calls. I didn’t not want to sync all my contacts in my phone with my Google home because there are umpteen people in my contacts and the family uses the Google home. For example, my son who uses the Google home could end up phoning an ex colleague of mine because he has now access to my contacts. Is there way of setting that up for just one person? 

While this is a different question from the original, the solution to the second issue is the use of voice match and personal results

Personal results are only provided when the voice assigned to that data is recognized as the owner of that content. For example, I couldn't walk up to your phone or Nest device and say, "call Mom." It wouldn't recognize my voice as belonging to any of the contacts or personal data.
