Disable music videos when I ask 'Hey Google, play some music'

Is there a way to stop music vidoes from displaying??
I would have assumed it's an easy tick box option in the settings of the Home Next Hub Max device ?

It seems that recently Google is intend on prioritising playing songs that has a associated music video. This never used to happen, unless you specifically asked for it. It's new behaviour.
This change has messed up the variation of songs played and the result is a narrowed down playlist of music played at random. I now get MANY repeats.
Also, I dont need my kids walking in to see questionable content being played when I just asked for some music, it's very frustrating this cannot be disabled.

Google/Youtube, please fix this, or give me a tick box to turn off music videos.

Hi Meds,

Thanks for reaching out. That certainly hasn’t been easy for you. Let’s check out what’s going on. A few questions: when did the issue start? Do you experience the same issue when playing music from the native app? Do you have a premium account?

Let's toggle the option to disable playing videos on YouTube Music:

  1. Open the YouTube Music app and ensure you're signed in to your account.
  2. Tap your profile icon in the top-right corner of the screen and select Settings.
  3. Tap Playback and restrictions and toggle Don't play music videos on.

Keep me posted

Juni

Hi

Having the exact same issue as Meds. Tried to follow steps listed above in the You Tube app but we don't have the option within Playback to toggle 'Don't play music videos'

This is really frustrating as the same song plays roughly every 3rd video and we don't even want to listen to the song never mind watch the video. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thank you 😊

Hi Bunnie73,

Thanks for posting. Are you using an Android or iOS? Is the YouTube app updated? Try to relink the app and observe if it makes a difference. Using another phone will also help us isolate it.

Juni
