Eufy S230 Solocam keeps getting recognized as a light on google home?

Jwill59

I am trying to connect my eufy S230 solocam that I just bought from Costco and when I try to add the devise on google home it keeps recognizing the security camera as a light?  I have tried deleting the eufy app and starting over and uninstalling eufy security from google home but I keep coming up with the same issue. Please don’t respond saying the eufy cameras aren’t supported by google home because the eufy website specifically says that the S230 solo cam is compatible with google home. I’m so frustrated with this I’m about to return the cameras I bought.

Hi there!

Thanks for posting in the community.
I’m sorry for the inconvenience that you’ve been experiencing when trying to connect your Eufy Camera to the Google Home App. I understand that when you try to connect the camera, it detects a bulb light instead of a camera. No worries about it, I’m happy to help you find a solution to this situation:

We recommend that if you are having trouble connecting a third-party smart home device to your Google, you should connect it first to the manufacturer's app. Once done, you can follow the next steps to get it working with your Google Home App:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Devices, then hit Add and go to Works with Google Home.
  3. Select the device maker from the list.
  4. To complete the setup, follow the app steps.

Please check the following articles: Connect third-party smart home devices in the Google Home app for further information.

Tell me how it goes.

Regards,

Daniel.

  • Are the Eufy app, the Google Home app, and your phone completely updated?
  • When did this behavior first begin?

Additionally, I want to know if you followed the steps in the previous post or checked the previous article: Connect third-party smart home devices in the Google Home app

Thank you for your attention. I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Jeremy.

Hi Jeremy

As you know, there's very little troubleshooting that anyone can do in this scenario as it's an automated process.

I've tried unlinking eufy and Google and reconnecting both accounts but still the camera is picked up as a light.

The camera is up to date with latest firmware and my phone is a pixel 9 pro, all apps are up to date.

This has been the case since purchasing the camera.

Hi @Browney,

Thank you for your prompt response and the detailed information you’ve provided and the troubleshooting steps you've already taken. I understand that the Eufy camera you're referring to is a third-party device. As such, its troubleshooting options may be more limited compared to Google-manufactured products.

To assist you further, please try the following basic troubleshooting steps:

  • Delete the Google Home app and Eufy app from your smartphone.
  • Restart your smartphone.
  • Perform a factory data reset on your Eufy camera.
  • Reboot your WiFi network.
  • Re-link your Eufy camera to both the Google Home app and the Eufy app.

Thanks for your attention. I will be waiting for your answer.

Best regards,

Jeremy

Did you end up returning them?  I purchased the same cameras, on the description stating its compatible with good home.
