Favorite radio station suddenly won't play - Melbourne Australia

Robbo9
Community Member

Have been listening to Triple M FM Melbourne for a year with out issue.  Suddenly today it plays a different station from what I'm asking for.  After a little investigating, I find that radio stations that are linked to either iHeart and Tunein are being played, but nothing via the Listnr app.  Has the Listnr app been dropped.

"Help" pages instruct to arrange your radio requirements via    Media>Manage your system>Radio (button)   But there is no Radio button (Only Music, Video, Podcast or Create Groups)

I wanted to steam my Sirius XM channels but none of the devices recognize Sirius. When I went into the Home app under media it is noonger a choice what's up?

Similar, It sucks, apparently as of 04/11/23 iHeart Radio and all their wonderful radio channels that I have listened to for the last several years on my Google Home system with Nest speakers no longer works.  For that matter the same with Sirius XM channels, and some Spotify Channels too.

Now the response that Google Assistant returns when you ask to stream your music, and/or radio channels is the same ridiculous.....  "I looked for (insert your music or channel name) and it either isn't available or can't be played right now".

Does anybody at Google know if this problem will get elevated to the point of someone or some team actually fixing this issue, or will the overall quality and experience of using the "Google Home System with Nest" just continue to degrade get worse and worse?   (Seems to be the trend from Google starting with the volume control issue for Nest Speakers that Google never provided a work-around for that originated back in Dec of 2021 and continues to this day)

Same issue with me. I've enjoyed Sirius XM on my Google Assistant speakers for the last 3 years and now they don't recognize them.  For example, if I ask to play a Sirius station. It says it either can't be found or can't be played right now.  Very frustrating to say the least.

See this link, Google sucks right now for all things "radio" "SiriusXM, and some "Spotify" too.

Can’t play radio

BBC radio won't play on either my Google Nest hub or LG smart speaker, it just says it can play it on my "other devices"!.

But it happily plays non BBC stations or Spotify, and I can cast BbC using my phone.

Tried factory resets, forgetting device, reinstalling Home but nothing works. Google chat "help" no use at all, LG help tell me it's a Google update issue.

When I ask to play the France Bleu Drôme Ardèche radio on all my Google devices it doesn't work. Some of the France bleu station works like the Provence one. But not my local one.

I'm in France so it isn't a location issue but a tune in/Google issue.

My LG smart speaker has suddenly decided it's going to play BBC radio. Not sure if saying "hey Google, feedback, BBC radio won't play" helped or not...

Thanks, will try that.

I have a Home Hub, minis, and Google Wifi. I also have routines set up for this. If I tell any of these in any way possible on any device, routine or voice, it will not play a station I've been playing on these and other various Google devices for the last 7 years or so; through different phones as well. The station, KTAR 92.3 FM is active on Audacy. When I ask it to be played, I am told the station isn't available or cannot be found. I can even add "on Audacy" to the command and weirdly the message tells me it can't find the station on TuneIn. TuneIn wasn't in the command.

So is Audacy no longer a streaming service on Google? The station is still sending a feed to Audacy as you can go there and play the live feed. So it's a Google issue.

Thanks.

And I just checked; KTAR on TuneIn is  streaming fine as well.

I'm not getting Audacy, iHeart Radio, or Sirius XM.....

I've been trying to play 1010 WINS on Audacy and I get the message it can't be found. I know it's on Audacy, but all I get is an Internet link to a web page. Very frustrating. I include radio and audacy in the verbal request.

None of the radio stations near me will play either, they are all audacy stations........

Thanks for the update!! Wish when you google searched the topic that would have popped up.

Too bad that wasn't easily found. Sure enough, things appear to be back to normal. Thanks for the link!

I use iHeartRadio and siriusxm, and both began working again this evening. 😊

TThat being said, it's not working as well as I would like. I have one Google home, and five Nest minis in my house. I have them set up in speaker groups. I would like to say "hey Google, play (whatever) on (speaker group)." When I first started doing that, it did not work. Then for a good while, it did. Then it stopped working again. And it doesn't work now. I can start it in a particular room, then tell it to transfer to the speaker group, and that works. However, if I tell it to start on the speaker group, it tells me it can't be found or couldn't be played right now. I would love it if that worked again.

For the last five or so years, my Google Home-based Lenovo Smart Display played Sirius XM channels that I asked it to stream.

("Hey, Google, play MLB Radio on Sirius XM" was the syntax I used. )

About a week ago, Google Home stopped responding to that prompt. Instead, the Smart Display either tuned to YouTube (if the Sirius channel had a corresponding YouTube channel) or replied with a spoken message that the Home Display was unable to play the content.

Several times I have tried each of the following things:  logging out and back into my Sirius XM account; linking and unlinking Sirius XM as the Home default radio application; rebooting the Smart Display; and rebooting the router.  I don't have other ideas.

If I have my phone with me, I can cast the Sirius XM app to the Smart Display, but that isn't a great solution because I often listened to Sirius XM while cooking, a time at which my phone often is in the bedroom being charged.   At least I know that my Sirius XM account is in good standing.

Is there a way to resolve this?

Having the same issues the last couple days. Won't play any music at all.

I am having the same problem trying to play music using TuneIn. Message is it the station isn't available or it can't find it.  I have restarted both my Home & my Nest mini.  Its not my wifi or router as it will play radio stations using iHeart radio.

I’m having same issue today can not play anything from Sirius Xmas on Google nest.

Looks as though it's a system thing.

Google Support should provide an update.

I am going to see if Sirius XM has a forum and, if it does, will try to inquire over there.

After upgrading my wireless router my nest will no longer play the desired radio station when I ask it by name or frequency it just tells me the station is unavailable or cannot be played at this time. Thanks for any help

Same here. Really, really frustrating. No live radio, tried telling Assistant to use Audacy or TuneIn, no luck. Pandora works. I am able to cast from a Chrome tab on my PC to my Nest speakers, but live radio via Assistant doesn't work.

For the last two days, neither my Google Home nor Google Mini smart speakers will play any radio station. When I submit the request, it replies, "It isn't available or can't be played right now." What can be done to fix this?
