I bought my son a Google nest mini but he has florescent lights.  What are our options for controlling his lights through the nest.

Hey there,
I understand light issues can be confusing but I definitely wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Just wanted to double check to see if you were still needing help on this? If so, what troubleshooting steps have you tried?

Please let me know.

Best regards,
Garrett DS

Nothing yet the nest is a Christmas present.  I'm just wondering what options we have.  And whats the best way to hook up his Fluorescent lights to the nest.  I've heard alot of advise and none agrees.  I've heard its easier to put in a smart switch I've heard thats a bad idea.  I'm good with cars not electrical stuff. And my kid has no patience.  So I'm trying to do my homework.  Right now I'm leaning towards switching the bulb for led tube but I'm not sure which ones are compatible.

Hey there,

Thanks for giving me some more information. I just a few more clarifying things.

Are you wanting to be able to dim the lights or just control them by turning them on/off? I know that you won't be able to dim fluorescent lights as that is not an option with them, but there are LED bulbs that you can get to dim with.

Also, I've heard that there are some different smart switches that work with fluorescent lights but not sure what ones they are and if they are compatible with the Google Home. Unfortunately, we only have information about our products, not necessarily if other products are compatible or work well with the Google Home.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Best regards,

Hey there,

I suggest doing a search for what lights are compatible with the Google Home app to be able to dim, so that way you can find the best lights that work for you.  Unfortunately, we only have information about our products, not necessarily if other products are compatible or work well with the Google Home.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

My son would be happy with on and off I'm getting one for my daughter too and she would probably prefer to dim so what are my options for both?
