GHT3 Fails to play Spotify

  1. This issue seems to be an ongoing problem dating back on your message boards for over a year!  
  2. Using the “routine” setting for “good morning” it will give me the time and weather but won’t play Spotify. “Sorry there seems to be a problem try again later.” It will play radio but won’t play Spotify.
  3. Ask to play Spotify and same problem persists. 
  4. After playing Spotify on another connected device, then it will open and play Spotify?
  5. Device has also had an issue crashing. Device response will stutter when going through the steps to run a routine, which often leads to a device crash. 
  6. I use this device as an alarm clock and it is completely unreliable! You need to find a fix for these issues immediately. It seems like there is no urgency on Google’s end.

Thank you for your comments and for reaching out. I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing a variety of issues with your device and Spotify. I understand your concern. 

 

As you are already aware of, this is still an ongoing issue with Spotify being used on Google Nest/Home devices. At this time, I do not know when the issue will be resolved, but the team is working on it. 

 

  • In regard to your device crashing, when does this occur?
  • Does this happen when the device is idling or when you are using it? 
    • What apps or actions are you doing when the device crashes?
  • Does this happen only when you're using Spotify?
  • Which device do you have? (model name, generation number)
  • Does the device reboot itself when it crashes?

The unit crashes at least 3 times per week. It normally happens when I use the “ok Google good night” feature. It will stutter when asking what time to set the alarm, and then crash. Or start to play music (Spotify or built in relaxing sounds) and then crash. Although it has crashed in the morning after the alarm as well. It does reboot when it crashes. It has also claimed the wifi was down. However my iPad which is an inch away doesn’t EVER have the same wifi error. I have the Google Nest Hub 1st gen?
