GHome Media "Now playing" not showing speakers

Hi there. I've been having issues with this since years ago and it is just a pain in the b** is not fixed yet.

I like to play music on all my speakers at the same time, for that I connect my phone to one of my speakers using BT and start playing, then I opem GHome and wait 'till media section appears, press on it and then it shows what song I am playing and the speaker. If I press on More it shows the rest of my speakers and I can press on them to "extend" the session over all speakers using Wi-Fi casting.

At least this was 3 years ago when everything worked properly. Now it is completely random whether all sepakers appear, whether they connect if I press on them, or even Media section appears in the GHome app and it has broken my media habits. When this happen I check if I can connect to the speakers in Devices tab and I can, so there is no reason for them to not appear in Media.

First time this started happening I was able to fix it temporarily by unplugging speakers and starting again, force close GHome and clear cache, but nowadays it does not work either. Reseting configuration do nothing and is has become quite unpractical to try it.

What is even more funny is that Spotify DOES show all speakers and even the group of speakers and I can cast to the group and work like a champ, but only for Spotify and I do use VLC for my local musoc, Twitch podcadts, etc.

If this cannot be fixed, I would like to be able to "extend" playing session from the Devices tab. Now, if I press on "Cast audio" in one of the devices it just plays on that device, but I need it plays in all of them.

Please, fix this already, it has been a lot of time now and I cannot recommend anyone to use Google's ecosystem with such an unstable app.

Hi Ricardogarceb,

Thanks for reaching out about the trouble you're having with your Nest speaker group. I understand this can be frustrating, and I'm here to help.

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  • Make sure you're using the latest version of the Google Home app. Updates often include bug fixes and performance improvements. Check the Play Store or App Store for updates.
  • Please make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  • In the Google Home app, go to Settings > Assistant and ensure "Continue audio across devices" is enabled.
  • Reset your speaker or display. This can sometimes resolve temporary glitches.

If these steps don't work, I just want to tell you that this issue has been escalated and we're working to resolve it as soon as possible:Having problems with Speaker groups? read this first. Also you can help us by sending feedback. We're always looking for ways to improve so your input is valuable.

Cheers,

Jonathan
