Google Assistant not playing ROUTINES and personal playlists on Spotify despite proper commands

This is a recurrent problem, introduced either by Google OR Spotify (they are NOT clear about that!)

It was reintroduced 2 DAYS ago!

Don't do it!!!

It won't work either, and that's a NO FIX!!!

Users should not have to RENAME their playlists to something OUT of this world for the name to be UNIQUE!!!

And the routines? Same problem!

Update that it broke again and is back to picking a random song with the same first word as the playlist name. It's actually incredible how broken such a basic feature is, especially because they fixed it before. Honestly this is the main thing I use my Nest for, I'll probably just get a regular Bluetooth speaker at this point

Adding to this. Not sure if useful though exactly the same issues, and no solution works. Have had the same issues occurring for a couple of months then being fixed for a couple of months. I did notice that asking for personal playlists does work on my Google nest hub (one with the display) and on my Samsung phone, though doesn't work on either version of the Google Mini or the original Google home. It would be great if Google/Spotify got it's sh+t together and fixed this.

Google KNOWS exactly what's the solution!

They created this BUG 2 times in the last year and fixed it!

In the end, users can use their products 50% of the time!!

Totally, and very frustrating the number of threads/reports that are closed as fixed with no documented fix

lol I got a free month trial of Apple Music to see if it would work there and it does not, even if you make your playlist public and give it a unique name

It won't matter!

It's the Google API that's broken...

Pandora works but I don’t pay for it so I’m assuming there will be ads and obviously I can’t create custom playlists

and now if I want a podcast to play for one of the routines, it no longer knows what provider to use since I delinked Spotify and I’m worried if I reconnect Spotify it won’t play pandora 🤦🏻‍♀️

Pandora works? Do you have playlists created? I suppose not...

If ROUTINES don't work... nothing works!

A routine command (Hey Google, Sleep!) will execute a MUSIC playlist / LP / SONG!!!

A music command (Hey Google, Play Sleep) will execute a MUSIC SONG instead of PLAYLIST!!!

So, this is all related to Google API that is not processing commands accordingly...

I googled general pandora wake up playlists and chose one of them and typed “Morning Music - Beautiful Sunrise playlist” into the routine and it seemed to work?

But, I tried linking Spotify as the podcast provider and it kept saying “that podcast isnt available for kids or adults who havent setup voice match” when I tried to execute the routine

So I setup voice match, and it actually starts playing the playlist for 1 second but then it pauses the playlist and says in a glitching voice “that podcast isnt available for kids or adults who havent setup voice match” but then it keeps playing the playlist so at least there’s that - but regardless it’s still an issue because with Spotify music playlists I was able to add several podcasts to a playlist and use that as my podcast routine in the morning. I dont want to play the latest episode or where I left in a podcast.

But now linking Spotify has affected  the Pandora routines: it will seemingly only work if you choose a specific Pandora playlist and write “Morning Music - Beautiful Sunrise playlist on Pandora” but when the routine activates it says “playing Morning Music - Beautiful Sunrise on Pandora” but I don’t even think it’s playing that playlist… I think it’s playing radio based on those keywords because in the Google home speaker where it shows what’s playing it’ll say “Sweet Dreams on Pandora” and that song doesn’t exist in that playlist.

Before I reconnected Spotify as the podcast provider and only had Pandora, I typed “the Lumineers radio” and it said “okay playing the Lumineers radio” and now it says “okay playing music on Pandora” -_-

I think if I de-linked Spotify it might play actual Pandora playlists.

what an atrociously buggy app.

I guess now that Google has a contract with the Department of Defense and is rolling in dough from genocidal Project Nimbus, they don’t care about their actual services and offerings or their customers 🤡
