Google Devices and Music

Up until recently, I could ask my Google Device to play lullabies in my kids room at night for x hours. It just stopped working and actually none of the devices do it all of a sudden. I checked the music default and all looks good and this is really a pain. I have to cast it off my pc to his room now and it's not the same. It forced me to use an Alexa device and I don't like how it handles it verses the google device if anyone has any ideas. Appreciate it.

Hi Avago,

This is not the experience we want you to have; let me help you. A few questions: which Nest speakers are we working with? When did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made? Is the issue happening on all music platforms?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router, followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Kindly confirm which music services aren’t working.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Dan

Yikes, I am glad you replied because I had given up and just realized something.. I thought they were google devices, but they are:

Insignia™ - Voice™ Smart Bluetooth Speaker and Alarm Clock with Google Assistant - Gray

I have 2 of these and within the last 2 weeks that command "ok google play lullabies for 8 hours" has stopped working.

I have a google mini also and tested it on that and it works perfect so I put that in my kids room just now so I dont have to use the Amazon one.

So the service works on the mini, but neither of these isignia with the google stuff in them if you have any ideas.

I may just swap them out if I can't figure it out. I liked that these had clocks on them and could play sounds in the kids room and rain sounds in mine prior.

Hey there,

We appreciate the follow-up information. We understand that your issue is isolated to your Insignia™ - Voice™ Smart Bluetooth Speaker and Alarm Clock with Google Assistant. Please note that we have very limited support for third-party speakers with a built-in Google Assistant. It is best to report this to Insignia tech support for better assistance. The integration of Google Assistant into third-party devices like your smart Bluetooth speaker and alarm clock is different from that of Google Home or Nest speakers.

If you need help with your Google Home or Nest devices, please do not hesitate to reply on this thread, and we're glad to assist you further; otherwise, we'll be locking this thread after 24 hours.

Kind regards,

Dan
