Google Home Hub Gen 1 not responding first time

Ninny_250

My google home fails to respond the first time. I have to repeat myself 4 or more times for one simple request. I have removed it from the home, factory restarted, unplugged it for a minute and there has been no change. I have to rely on the screen but that is simply not practical. It turns on and starts listening, as I can see on the screen, but then the google home 4 dots spins in a circle and then disappears. This also happens sometimes on my other google home devices. Which are google home minis, gen one.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you.

Hey Ninny_250,

Thanks for reaching and that certainly hasn't been easy for you — let's figure this out.

A few questions: when did it start happening? Were there any recent changes on your network? Also, are you using a public or private network?

Give these steps a try:

  1. Make sure your devices are within 15-20 feet of your router.
  2. Check router settings. (AP isolation must be disabled and UPnP must be enabled).
  3. Reboot your devices and router for a minute to refresh the connection.
  4. Try resetting your Google Home Mini and Google Nest Hub.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Alex
