Google Home Mini Was Manufactured For A Different Country

jovart72
Community Member

I've brought multiple google home mini (2nd gen) devices with me from US to be use in Mexico after being used for more than a year, one of the Google mini stopped connecting.

I've tried resetting the device without any success.

Whats strange is that 1 out of 3 stopped working, all purchase same day, same store.

Please advice

Hi jovart72,

This is not the experience we want you to have, let me help you. A few questions: when did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router, followed by your Nest Mini.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

If the issue persists, do a factory reset again to revert it back to its default settings. Once done, to eliminate network issues, please try setting up your device using a mobile hotspot. Please note that you will need two mobile devices for this setup (one will serve as a router and the other to be used to set up your Google Home/Nest devices). Once done, check if your device will have the same behavior.

Best,

Dan

Hi there,

Got it. A few questions: what is the exact message that you are getting from the Google Home app?  What is the Google Home app version installed to your phone? Also, What phone are you using (Android or iOS)?

I look forward to your response.

Thanks,

Juni

It android amsing s23 ultra, Google home version it's 2.66.1.13, I'm in Mexico wish I could share the screenshot but I'll translate, because this nest mini was manufactured in a different country it possible it won't connect to your wifi, mi router it's also google nest, now I get friends saying switch to alexa, I don't know why but it does sound like the better option right now, before I start making mi home into Google everything.

Hey jovart72,

To confirm, have you tried setting up your Home Mini on a different network like a mobile hostpot? How many devices did you use to set it up?

Cheers,

Muddi

Hi jovart72,

A mobile hotspot or hotspot device is like a personal, portable router you can use to connect to the internet. It uses a cellular signal to connect to the internet the same way your phone does, but you can't use it to make or receive calls. If you will set up your speaker on a mobile hotspot, please note that you will need two mobile devices (one will serve as a router and the other to be used to set up your Google Home Mini).  Follow the steps on this link to know-how.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Muddi
