Google Home Mini Won't Respond To Reset Attempts

EonofAeon

I recently had to factory reset my wifi/modem at the behest of my ISP. This has led to no small amount of frustration, but it also means reconnecting devices.

Except I cannot use my google home. Any attempts to do so are met with "This device was previously set up by a different user, please factory reset the device". Except when I mute the mic and hold my finger over the 4 orange lights....nothing happens.

5 seconds, 15, 30. One finger, 2, my whole palm. A light caress, moderate pressure, or smoosh.

There's no reset warning, no sound effects, it just sits there n occasionally yells that the mic is muted.

I tried doing the plug n replug n unplug n replug thing (but maybe not with the full length pauses it may require?) and it didnt seem to help either.

Honestly at a loss and really frustrated, as I use this as both a last ditch alarm as well as sleep music...

Hello EonofAeon,

Thanks for posting here in the Community. I'm sorry for this experience.

Our Google Home Mini and Google Nest Mini look almost the same, but we have different ways of factory resetting. The former has a flat surface at its bottom, while the latter has a wall mount. Please make sure that your device is a Google Nest Mini before performing the reset. Check out this article for the steps.

Let me know if this helps.

Best,
Lovely
