Google Home Mini only one green light

Today one of my Google Home Mini simply stopped responding. No speaker sound, no lights. When I press the reset button on the bottom of the device, only a green light appears (and it disappears as soon as I release the button).

Powering the device on and off for 10 times does not work, it does not start up on power connect. There are never any white dots showing up any more.

I can add the device again to Google Home, but during the setup process the speaker does not play the sound and after adding the device still does not respond (still no white lights showing at any time). It is also not possible to mirror sound to it (connection refused immediately).

The Google Device Utility app is also not working for resolving this.

Your help is much appreciated!

Hi dzz,

It sounds like your Google Home Mini might be facing a hardware issue. Here are a couple of things you can try, but if they don't work, it might be time to consider contacting Google support:

  • Try a Different Power Source: Make sure you are using the original power adapter that came with your Mini. You can also try plugging it into a different outlet to see if the current outlet is faulty.

  • Factory Reset: Even though the reset button isn't giving the usual response, try a factory reset anyway. There are two ways to do this:

  • Using the Reset Button: While the device is unplugged, hold down the reset button on the bottom for about 5 seconds. You should see an orange light appear. Once the light disappears, release the button and wait for the device to restart.

  • Using the Google Home App: Open the Google Home app and select your Mini. Then tap Settings > Reset > Factory reset.

  • Check for Updates: If your Mini manages to power on after a factory reset, open the Google Home app and check for any software updates available for the device.

If none of these steps work, then it's likely a hardware problem within the Google Home Mini itself. You can contact Google Nest support for further assistance by using this form Contact Us.

Regards,

Ivan
