Google Home Speaker "Something went wrong, please try again"

Hi to everyone, my google home mini 1st gen is randomly saying

"Mmmm, Something went wrong, please try again"

By itself, most of the times I wake up at 5am with it saying it OUTLOUD.

First times it scared me a lot.

It is triggered by nothing I could tell of... complete silence in the room at 5am (I sleep from 2am to 8am).

I reset it, I now plug it into a  smart plug and made a routine that turn off the plug and turn on the plug while I sleep... so at least I don't wake up... but it still keep saying it.
Just now, while I was working, out of nothing it said it again....

Do you know what is happening and how can I prevent it from happening?

I am about to discard the product because of this.... 😞

THANK YOU.

Ours was doing this for about nine months. It also wasn't following directions the first time it was given a command and was giving us error messages every time we asked a question, telling us there appears to have been a problem, please try again in a few seconds. The second attempt would always work. This was happening on our two Google Homes and two minis, but about two weeks ago the problem was finally resolved! Don't give up! I was about ready to trash my components and start all over with Alexa (which I really don't care for), but I've bought too many products that are compatible with Google Assistant/Google Home and didn't want to lose that ability or have to consider buying everything new which wouldn't be reasonable. (I'm talking appliances, smart home devices, etc.) I re-booted our router and modem but I had done that before and had no luck. A couple of weeks ago I tried again. I also restarted all of the Google devices and made sure there were no new updates. Seriously...there are so many people having this problem, it's ridiculous so I thought I was wasting my time but knew there had to be a fix! I installed an Eero system about 18 months ago (courtesy of the pandemic and online school for five kids) and this time I decided to update and restart (re-boot) our Eero Mesh system. It worked! All of a sudden the devices started working properly again! Some had become disconnected from my app so I deleted all of the devices and re-added them as if they were new. I'm not sure which of my efforts finally made the difference, and it's possible Google had done an update around the same time, but I'm amazed and beyond thrilled to say all of our Google products have been working flawlessly for over two weeks now! (After many, many months of errors and randomly telling us there has been a problem.) Others have talked about disabling their iPV6 and say they fixed the problem for them. I didn't have to do that, but it might work for you. Representatives from Google are on other threads regarding this problem and are desperately trying to help fix it, but I no longer believe it's a Google software (or hardware) issue. This is happening to both newer and older models so it's not even an issue of models not being able to receive updates. I think the problem lies within many of our own homes. If you have the Eero or any other sort of WiFi expander or mesh network, I highly recommend unplugging your Google Home/mini/etc, then updating your WiFi extender or mesh system and re-booting it. Delete all of your Google devices from your app and re-add them like they're brand new and see what happens. I make no promises, but it worked for me and I couldn't be happier! We use our Google devices at least 25 times a day with our family of seven: setting timers, playing music, asking about the weather, getting homework help, playing games, you name it. I hope you figure it out! I think Google is having trouble fixing everyone's issues because the issues are likely a little different for each home depending on our internet provider, router/modem, extenders, etc. Best wishes! There's a whole huge, long thread on here if you want to read through what others have done. Disabling iPV6 is the most common thing mentioned but, as I said, I didn't have to do that. Maybe I just got lucky, but I started having trouble with one of our Ring devices a few weeks ago and this all happened when I was trying to get my Ring device back online. It worked. As a bonus, I fixed our Google devices and didn't even realize it until about an hour later when one of the kids told Google to play music and it responded by playing music WITHOUT giving us an error message first!

Hi, thanks for your answer.

I don't have problems while I interact with it....

My huge problem is that around 5am (last night was 4:55... woke me saying "something went wrong...") that says that phrase by itself in a complete silence room.

I unplugged it now because I am tired of getting up by that. 😞

I tried resseting it and removing my account... nothing worked.

I'm sure you've already made sure of this, but make sure you don't have a routine that is triggering around sunrise or at 5am. I have a routine that always kicks off at 11pm at night, to lock our smart locks, and unfortunately like 75% of the time, the lock's servers can't be reached by Google and so it randomly shouts out an error message which startles some of the family!

Hi there!

Yes! I thought about that! I even think it could be some kind of a recurring reminder..

I reviewed the routines, there are a number I can't even erase that I think Google put there on purpose. But they are all triggered by speaking.

Thank you for your answer.!

Did you somehow fix it? I'm having the same error at random times, I'm 99% sure it's the chinese led strip I bought but I have no idea how to check the logs or anything 😓

Well... I finally found out that the problem was not the Google home mini located exactly behind the xiaomi Android tv, but the TV itself.

Is the tv the one who speaks... Couldn't find the solution.

Work around: plugged the TV to a smart plug and configured to shut down at 4 and turn on at 7. It speaks sometimes at different hours and I hear it. But it doesn't wake me up anymore.

I don't recommend xiaomi TV. I hope they fix this by an update since I'm not alone one this.

Happy new year

Oh wait what? I have my google home mini behind my Sony A80J smart tv aswell, it sometimes turns on by itself, I might have the same problem 🤔

Happy new year 🙂
