How to add smart lights without a speaker in the room

I want to get some Nest controlled lights but the Google setup says to add the lights in the room where the speaker is! I want to put the light into a room where there isn't a speaker. (Only having a speaker in the living room or kitchen) and the lights in the bedrooms. So I can turn off the kids lights without having to go into the room and disturb them.

How do I add a light to my home WITHOUT having a speaker in the room (WiFi does extend into the room fine) ?

I currently have one Google Home mini located in the bedroom. But i have eight lights ( 3 smart bulbs, 2 smart switches, and 3 smart plugs) located through out the house. As long as I am where my Google Home mini can hear me, I can control all of those lights. I can give individual commands for each light (Hey Google, turn on Family Room light) or control all 8 at once (Hey Google, turn off all lights). And if I am not in the vicinity of my Google Home mini, I can give the same commands to my Google assistant on my phone.
