Google Home Speakers sometimes replaces hourly and half-hourly newscasts with commercials

I listen to a local terrestrial radio station called 810/103.1 WGY from iHeartRadio streaming on my Google Home speakers (Gen 1 Home Mini and Nest Mini).   This is a news/talk radio station which plays newscasts on the hour and half-hour.   Many times, instead of hearing the newscasts or traffic reports, the speakers play 6-7 minutes of commercials where the newscasts and traffic reports should be!  And then the actual radio show begins 6-7 minutes AFTER its true time-slot!  What is happening with these feeds?  Why are commercials playing instead of newscasts and traffic reports?   When I'm listening to an online stream, I want to hear the same exact same programming I would hear over the actual airwaves!  I don't want extra commercials not heard on actual over-the-air broadcasts!

Hi, @am743434,

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I apologize for the inconvenience you're experiencing with the iHeartRadio stream on your Google Home speakers. I understand how frustrating it must be to not hear the newscasts and traffic reports you expect. I'm committed to helping you resolve this inconvenience.

Before troubleshooting, ensure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your speaker or display.

Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Unlink and relink: Unlink and then relink your radio service. You can find instructions for this in our article: Link and unlink your radio services.
  • Listen directly to the station: If possible, listen to the radio station on a traditional radio to verify if the issue is specific to the streaming service.
  • Try a different streaming device: If possible, listen to the station on a different device or app to see if the inconvenience persists.
  • Check for updates: Ensure your Google Home speakers and iHeartRadio app are up-to-date. Updates often address bugs and improve performance.

If after those troubleshooting steps you still hear the commercials, please consider contacting iHeartRadio. They may be able to provide more accurate information.

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Ana
