Hi Jdubb81,

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I understand that you would like to stop your Google Home Mini from controlling your Nest account. I'm here to help.

Before I begin, I need to make sure that I understand correctly. Could you tell me more about this behavior you are encountering with Google Home Mini?

Please keep me posted. I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Byron

My has son has a mini in his room and keeps turning my heat way up. I still want him to be able to play music and things but not access the thermostat.

Hi Jdubb81,

Thank you for your response. I really appreciate the information provided. I can help you with that.

Please try to create a new "home structure" into your Nest account and move the Nest Mini to that home, so he is still able to control his Nest Mini, and you will be able to keep your Nest thermostat as usual.

  • Here are the steps to create a home:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Settings, then Add.
  3. Select Home.
  4. Follow the steps.

Note: You can have up to five homes in your account.

  • Here are the steps to move the device to another home:
  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. If you have more than one home, tap Favorites. At the top, select the home you want to edit.
  3. Tap Favorites or Devices, and then touch and hold your device's tile.
  4. Tap Settings, then Device Information, and then Home.
  5. If device information isn't an option, tap Home.
  6. Tap the home you want to move the device to and then Next and then Move device.
  7. If asked, tap the room you want to move the device to and then Next.

Note: Not all devices can be moved to a different home this way.

Let me know how it goes and keep me posted.

Regards,

Byron
