Google Home not showing Spotify under your music services

Google Home not showing Spotify under your music services

I have a premium spotify account 

I cannot get it to link to my spotify acc, the Nest keeps telling me to link to my spotify account

On my android mobile I can see the Spotify premium account under the podcasts via - Home Settings  - Podcasts 

but when I go back and select Music   - there is only Youtube music - there is not spotify link option.

I have ensured both accounts are the same google account (but how do I confirm this for sure - there is no option to see my linked accounts on my Home App??)

I am in the Cayman Islands , would this cause the problem. Spotify works on my mobile and I can cast to my Nest but the Google nest will play some stuff on Spotify but not always. It will not  show Spotify as a music service so I can select it as a default provider

I re booted my Nest on arriving here, - no luck, re started mobile. 

This is driving me crazy

There are lots of  questions like this on this forum but none seem to have solutions - none that work for me.. 

Can anyone confirms what are the country restrictions , if any, on Google Nest audio

I purchased this in the UK and set it up there with all my UK accounts - Google etc - I did not link to anything. , but I work here in Grand Cayman and I am trying to get the full use out of this nest. Will this location be an issue????

It is V V V frustrating as it keeps saying my "Your Spotify needs to be linked you can do this with your Google home app"...    but there is no way I can find to link it??

 

Where can I see a simple help page which explain the rules about countries and locations when using / linking music services on the Nest?

Can anyone help?

Give these steps a try:

 

  • Uninstall and reinstall your Google Home app.
  • Make sure your phone and Google Home app's language are set to ENG-UK.
  • Try linking it using the Google Assistant app.

I have already tried as you suggested - no luck

but have just done these steps again to make sure and as you asked me to

  • Uninstall and reinstall your Google Home app. DONE
  • Make sure your phone and Google Home app's language are set to ENG-UK.  HOW ??? BUT THEY ARE ALREADY ENGLISH UK.. HOW DO I CONFIRM THIS?  ON HOME APP -> SETTINGS THERE IS NO LANGUAGE SETTINGS?  YOU SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME HOW TO DO THIS SO I CAN DO AS YOU SUGGEST... BUT MY GMAIL ACCOUNT AND MOBILE AND HOME APP AND SPOTIFY ARE ALL UK ENGLISH BY DEFAULT... PLEASE EXPAND ON  WHAT YOU WANT ME TO TO CHECK?  BUT I MOVE TO THE CAYMAN ISLANDS A FEW WEEKS AFTER I PURCHASED AND SET UP MY NEST. ALL  IS ENGLISH HERE.
  • Try linking it using the Google Assistant app.  HOW? THIS IS THE PROBLEM. IT DOES NOT LET ME.  AGAIN I DO NOT KNOW THE CORRECT WAY TO DO THIS.. THE  WAY I DO BY GOING TO HOME APP->  HOME SETTINGS -> MUSIC  UNDER SERVICES SHOWS ME NOTHING BUT THE DEFAULT YOUTUBE   UNDER MORE MUSIC. IT HAS APPLE MUSIC ONLY...-  WHERE DO I TELL IT TO LINK?  DOES IT NOT JUST SHOW SPOTIFY MUSIC SERVICE IF MY SPOTIFY ACCOUNT AND MY HOME AAPP GMAIL ARE EXACTLY THE SAME? IS THERE AN INTERMEDIATE STEP I AM NOT DOING???  THE PODCAST IS LINKED TO MY PREMIUM SPOTIFY... SO WHY NOT MUSIC.... THIS IS CRAZY!

WHY IS THIS SO DIFFICULT TO DO???

under my  Podcasts option on the Home App  it  shows my spotify premium and there is an option button to unlink so it knows I have a spotify account linked with the correct email BUT why will this not show under Music service?  Like in the attached picture from a youtube videoScreenHunter_272 Aug. 20 18.41.jpg

 

Please re read my original email question as I have already tried lots ... Should Spotify not work anywhere in the world?

 

Please can you look in to this problem for me?

Chiming in to make sure everything is covered here. We apologize for the confusion here as we were not able to consider your location (Cayman Island). Please note that some of our partner music providers may be unavailable in your region. You can contact Spotify to check their availability on the Google Home/Nest devices where you live, or explore all the music partners available on the Google Assistant. At the end of the page, click the language and country dropdown > change the country based on your current location.

 

Also, we can only guarantee the full functionalities of the Google Home/Nest devices in those countries where it was officially supported and released like UK, US, AU, and many more. You can still use the devices but features maybe limited.

But there is no option to change the country based on your current location? - Frommy laptop

I tried on the mobile - it just opened web page full of music search results  - there is no bottom of this page as it keeps scrolling ... 

I tried clicking the link on both my laptop and my android mobile.  - none show this dropdown > change the country

 

Please be more specific in what you want me to do. Which device /  program / patform

I will email spotify as you suggest could you not just check this for me?  My searches show that Spotify will work any where. see Cayman Islands on this list  I can use it on my other devices here but it does not work with my Audio Nest.. Is this Spotify problem or the Google nest? This is why I am after some help and advice.

As  I am still in the same position. I cannot use my paid for music service on the Google Nest.  I am very frustrated as I was under the impression the Nest would work when I wanted to use the Google Nest, not where I wanted to use it!  It is like buying a laptop in one country and it not working in another country..

 

As I keep saying, I can see the link to the podcast spotify but not in the other music services section? 
Google is an international company who build products to work in all countries..

 

Can you not talk to one of your experts/colleagues in another country - that is not on your list of countries and ask them for advice?

I know you are still looking for a solution for me so just to let you know I tried this below from another posting on here . Needles to say, it did not work.. I cannot see/ link to my spotify music service...!  Please help?

Uninstall the Spotify app on your iPhone, but don't reinstall it. Then, link the Spotify account from the Google Home app, and it should go through. Then you're free to reinstall it on your phone, too.

Since the Google Home and Nest devices are not fully supported in your country - there are features that may or may not work. That includes the availability of music services in your area.
