Can’t connect spotify

Hi guys! having problems connecting  Spotify to the google home app on iOS. When I click to add services > music > Spotify > continue, it all seems to be working fine. It opens Spotify app that  (logged with the same gmail address) and has a little pop up that says “authorizing” which changes to a tick, but then it tries to redirect to another link which doesn’t exist (https://oauth-redirect.googleusercontent.com/a/com.google.Chromecast?code=AQCrVPoWbTUgfz4HjBPMz-r4F5...) … after doing that I try to connect it again and just the tick pops up without bouncing me back to the home app. It seems it’s already connected but the home app actually doesn’t recognize spotify. I’m just going around in circles without the 2 connecting. Any suggestions?

 

I have tried:

Resetting the nest pressing the volumen button, uninstalling and logging out both apps (home and spotify).

I've just had Google Live Chat help out and resolve this issue for me. Uninstall the Spotify app on your iPhone, but don't reinstall it. Then, link the Spotify account from the Google Home app, and it should go through. Then you're free to reinstall it on your phone, too.

I'm having the same issue as well, the redirect was intermittently working with Google Assistant, not Google Home, but would still fail to complete the connection with "Something went wrong. Please try again."

I'm on the latest version of iOS and have re-installed/rebooted the apps/my phone.
