Google Home playing radio station is erratic

Hi, my Google Home Nest Hub (7in, 2nd Gen) is quite erratic when connecting to play certain radio stations on various radio apps. I am trying to play ABC NewsRadio (frequency 95.7) in Australia and have tried the following apps:

1. TuneIn Radio - does not work completely. It shows the station details on screen but no sound. However, works on other stations though like SBS Radio 1, 97.3 FM Australia

2. iHeart Radio - this works fine during the day. But I notice that at about 10pm, it crashes out and I get the message "I tried looking for ABC NewsRadio and it is not available or cannot play it right now"

3. Radio Australia App - same as iHeart Radio

Have tried various command combinations like "Stream...", "LiveStream...". Using frequencies etc. I notice that during the day it seems to work just fine but then at about 10 or 11pm it stops working.

Needless to say - very frustrated. Have been attempting to use this feature in Routines to wake me up in the morning but because it stops working at night, the Routine does not work in the morning either. Then at about 9 or 10 am, it starts working again. Am I dreaming??

It seems this problem (in various forms - mine can be added as a new variation) has been reported from over 2 years ago and is still a problem that is being reported. Can Google please confirm if there is a problem or a fix? It cannot be a fix that is coming as this problem appears to be ongoing for over 2 years. I am about to return the unit and return to the good old fashioned digital clock radios!!

Hi Karncheong1,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

That certainly hasn’t been easy for you. Let’s check what’s going on. A few things: what is the distance between your Nest Hub and your router? Do you experience the issue when playing music services like YouTube music or Spotify? What steps have you tried so far aside from trying various commands?

You can move your Nest Hub near your router and check for changes. If you already did the reboot, you can try to do the full reset and observe if this will make any difference. Check the step below on how to do the full reset.

Here’s how to do the reset, press and hold the volume up and down button located at the back of your Google Nest Hub together for about 10 seconds. You'll hear your Google Assistant confirm that it's resetting your Google Nest Hub.

Check this helpful link too and keep me posted.

Regards,.
