Hub was working fine all day then noticed it was on a grey screen showing the google logo. I tried the recovery mode and factory reset but it defaults back to the same grey screen.
I am using the original charger supplied with the device (I see that is asked often).
Can you please help!!

I have no solution, but mine did the same thing this weekend. The factory reset doesn't appear to be working, and my Google Home indicates that it is not connected to the internet. It was working when I went to bed and stopped woring during the night. If you resolve your problem, please post. I'll be following you post.

I spoke to support and they are willing to replace my unit but because I live in South Africa and not in the US they won't... Got an expensive paperweight thanks to Google not having proper quality control on their updates pushed out. I wouldn't be surprised if the 2nd gen devices start doing the same after they release 3rd gen. I'm selling the rest of my nest speakers and Nest WiFi while they still work else I'm going to have a box full of paperweights. I'm angry, been ripped off and have no faith in this Nest dev team.
