Google Nest Audio Bluetooth Speaker - Keeps Disconnecting from Bluetooth

I received a Google Nest Audio as a gift and I love it except that it continually disconnects from Bluetooth. I connect with my iPad and play music, and nearly every time we use it, it randomly stops and disconnects from Bluetooth. I cannot reconnect until I do either a soft (via app) or hard (via power cycle) reboot. The speaker is still listed on the available Bluetooth devices, but it fails to connect over and over until you reboot. This is a deal breaker when I’m on the treadmill or entertaining especially as the speaker takes a few minutes to reboot and be available again. I noticed many people have been having this problem for many years. Did I get a defective speaker or is this a known issue with all speakers that will happen with any replacements I might get? My wifi is Google Mesh & I have a Google Nest Hub. I’ve never had an issue with other google devices in the house disconnecting from Bluetooth. I WAS planning on buying a speaker for every zone of the house - but I will not be doing that if this keeps happening.

Hi @AKIndyHouse

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear your Nest Audio keeps disconnecting from Bluetooth. I appreciate all the efforts you've been making to resolve this inconvenience. I'm happy to help!

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • When did the behavior start?
  • Are there error messages?
  • Are there other nearby Bluetooth devices turned on?

In the meantime, let's check a few things:

  • Check for possible nearby interference sources like other Bluetooth devices, high voltage appliances, or devices connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
  • Check if the Nest Audio has the latest firmware version and the Google Home app has the latest updates.
  • Uninstall and reinstall the Google Home app.
  • Perform a Factory Reset on your Nest Audio and try to pair and connect again. Refer to this article: Factory Reset your Nest Audio.

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Melany
