Google Nest Audio - no power

Ms_G
Community Member

Hello, I am hoping you can help me.  I have 2 Google Nest Audio speakers.  One of the speakers is just dead.  There is no power at all to the unit.  I've swapped out power adapters to see if the problem was with the power adapter, but it is not.  I've tried several outlet just in case as well, however still no power, no lights.

Can you please advise on some troubleshooting steps?

Hi Ms_G,

This is not the experience we want you to have and thank you for doing the troubleshooting steps, let me help you. A few questions:

  1. When did your issue begin?
  2. Did you use any adapter other than the provided P18 power supply in the box?
  3. When and where did you buy Nest Audio?
  4. Did the failure happen after any known power-related events? (Examples: lightning storms, power outages, power surges, etc.)
  5. Did you notice any other problems with the device before it stopped working?

Let discharge your Nest Audio:

  • Unplug the power adapter from the outlet and the speaker or display.
  • Leave it unplugged for 20 seconds.
  • Plug the power adapter into the speaker or display.
  • Plug the other end of the power adapter into a wall outlet that works.
  • Check if any LED lights would appear on the back of the speaker or display.

Also, try to factory reset your device. Click here on how to.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Dan

Thank you Juni.

I'll try to answer your questions.

1.  I used another Google Audio (exact same power adapter from my other speaker), and tried to power it up.  This is a known working power adapter as I use it with my other Google Speaker.

2.  There were no storms or brownouts that I am aware of.

3.  It was working fine and one day, it wasn't.

4.  I tried resetting it.

5.  I believe I bought it from the Canada Google Store or Best Buy in Canada

The issue is still unresolved.  This speaker is maybe 4 years old.

Hey Ms_G,

Thanks for the information. This looks like an issue with the device itself, since trying a different power cable did not resolve the issue. Unfortunately, we can no longer replace the device because it only comes with a one year warranty. Visit Google Consumer Hardware Limited Warranty to know more.

Let us know if you have additional concerns about your Nest Audio, otherwise, I'll close the thread after 24 hours.

Cheers,

Muddi
