Google Nest Hub Alarm and snooze

Duuhannes

There is a problem on the alarm and snooze functions of the Nest Hub (2nd Gen).

Problem with the alarm:

When alarm goes of, the screen stays off. I have to tap it so screen wakes up and then when I press stop. Screens goes off immediatly.

Problem with the snooze:

When alarm goes of, screen stays off. I have to tap it so screen wakes up, then I tap on the snooze and the screen stays on! WHY? I have to swipe multiple times left so I get the screen off so it won't bother me snoozing.

It should work like this. Alarm goes off, screen wakes up. I tap snooze -> screen goes off. Or if I tap stop -> screen stays on.

Hi Duuhannes,

Thanks for visiting the Google Nest Community. Alarm goes off (screen wakes up) > Screen stays on with Snooze and Stop buttons. Once snoozed, the screen stays on (and on the snooze screen) until the alarm goes off again. This is how alarms on Google Nest displays normally work. Since your Google Nest Hub 2nd gen shows a different behavior, let’s troubleshoot it.

  • Unplug the power adapter of your Google Nest Hub 2nd gen for a minute > Plug it back in.
  • If Ambient EQ is on, toggle it off and on.
  • Set a test alarm and see how it goes.

Regards,
Alex

I will try this, but why screen stays on when snoozing?

I would like screen to turn off so I can snooze in peace and not have this light source on me face. 🙂

Hi there,

We hear you. It would really be convenient to have the screen turn off while in snooze; however, we don’t have an option in the display or the Google Home app to enable that. Though it is yet to be supported, we'll share this with the team as feedback.

Keep me posted if the troubleshooting steps work.

Best,
Alex

Apologies for the late response. Your Google Nest Hub 2nd gen’s screen still stays off when your alarm goes off, is that right? Our team would like to take a look at this. Kindly fill out this form and let us know once you're done.

Warmly,

Hello, my 2nd gen Nest Hub has precisely the same behavior, since at least a couple of months: screen stays black when alarm goes off. It definitely wasn't like this initially and I find it very impractical. I checked all related settings AFAIK. Has anything been found yet?

Hi luykxdpm,

Thanks for reaching out. You can try the factory reset; this erases all your personalized settings and restores the factory default settings. It won’t automatically reconnect to WI-Fi, and you’ll need to set it up again. Check out the article below to know more about it.

Factory reset Google Nest or Home speakers or displays
