Google Nest Hub Gen. 2 doesn't turn on, after 2 months of not using it

Hey guys, I took my Google Nest Hub Gen. 2 off the power outlet 2 months ago, after performing normally for almost a year. Now when I plug it in again the screen doesn't turn on and the device doesn't pop up in my Google Home App.

I tried all the reset options, plugging in 11 times, pushing down to volume down and up buttons, pushing down only the down button etc. Also tried different original google cables and different power outlets.

The weird thing is that the small light in the front (near the camera) does work, so obviously the device isn't completely bricked.

Would really appreciate any further tips. Thanks in advance!

Hi Olf667,

I'm sorry to hear that your Nest display isn't working the way it should be and we're here to help. Hats off to you in doing all the necessary steps before posting. Unplugging 11 times and doing the factory reset are the correct way. Also, thank you for trying other power cables and power outlets.

For confirmation, since you mentioned a light near the camera, do you have a Nest Hub Max instead of the previously mentioned Nest Hub 2nd Gen? What do you see on the screen, is it all black or with a G logo?

Looking forward to your responses.

Best,

Dan

Hey, thank you for trying to help. Sadly it was just the small light and a black screen. I luckily was able to send it back to my vendor, maybe they can fix it.

Hi Olf667,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop. Glad that you were able to return it. If they were able to replace it you can follow the steps below to set it up..

  1. Plug in your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3.  Tap the Add icon Set up device plus New device follow the in-app steps.
    • If the Set up devices button is not on the screen:
      1. To set up your first device in the Home app, tap Get started Set up new devices Create another home Next enter a home nickname and address.
    • Note: You’ll need to enter a nickname, but you can choose not to enter your address.
      1. To set up all other devices, at the top left, tap the Add icon Set up device plus New device.
      2. Follow the remaining steps.
  4. You’ll be able to opt out of some settings, like Voice match or Personal results. You can change these settings at any time after you complete setup.

Here is a helpful link to help you. I will keep this thread open for 1 more day. If you need further help, let me know by updating this thread.
