Google Nest Hub Max Touchscreen suddenly non functional

I've had this device working properly for several months, and suddenly the touchscreen became non functional despite the rest of the features working. After trying to restart the device several times, I tried following the advice from a Google rep on this thread (https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/Nest-hub-max-touchscreen-not-working/m-...). After I completed the recommended factory reset, it is completely non functional and stuck on the "almost done!" screen where I cannot press the "finish set up" button due to the non functioning touchscreen. I tried to reset again, still nothing. This is very frustrating, especially given that the Google-given advice has actually decreased the function of the device rather than improving the situation.

It was a gift a little over a year ago. From someone who lives in NYC so I imagine it was purchased there.
