Google Nest Hub -- Stop going back to the clock screen?

I am unimpressed with the Nest Hub when it comes to keeping information onscreen during cooking.


I am using a third-party app called Sous Chef, which integrates with the Nest Hub to allow me to cook using my own recipes, and doesn't limit me to online search results.
 
The app is great, but for some unknown reason, the Nest Hub only keeps the app open on screen for about 20 to 25 seconds between commands, returning to the clock screen if I don't give a command in that time frame. It's unrealistic when cooking to be expected to give a new command every 20 seconds. All I want is for the recipe to stay onscreen until I tell the Nest Hub to close it: surely that's not a big ask!
 
I've spoken with the developer of Sous Chef and he tells me this is a problem unique to the Google Nest Hub: the same app works fine on Amazon Echo Show devices without closing every 20 seconds. He has raised the issue with Google several times and received no reply. So here I am, trying to add another voice to the many who just want the display to stop going to the clock screen all the time!
 
Please, Google developers, consider adding this basic quality of life option to your device.
